Which / What Oil Should I Use? [Merged]

I say stick with it.
I use valvoline vr1 60w oil for summer 50w for winter just to get rid of lifter ticks haha works great for me so far.
Tryed royal purple didn't work for me so I just stick with valvoline vr1 60w!!

Here is from the service manual for your car. I run 5w30 Mobil 1 in my stock DSM's and 0w20 Amsoil in my built engines.

The first number isn't important - it's the second number you should be concerned about. It will be fine most likely, but you're not gaining any longevity by running 15 weight, rather than 10 weight. I'll tell ya this though - 50 weight is too thick for my taste personally.
 
Mobil 1 15W-50 is formulated with SuperSyn, an extra high-viscosity synthetic fluid, plus extra anti-wear additive to provide extra protection for severe service applications. Mobil 1 15W-50 is recommended for high performance vehicles including turbocharged and supercharged engines where a thicker oil film is desired. Mobil 1 15W-50 is also recommended for older valve train designs that may benefit from a higher level of anti-wear normally not required for newer generation vehicles. Mobil 1 15W-50 will also provide better anti-wear protection for higher valve spring tensions in certain racing engines.
 
I use 10W30 in mine. I thought about going to a lighter weight oil because my balance shafts are removed and my oil pressure runs a little high. But so far only 10W30!
 
..then what do you run IN the wintertime? Or, do you mean until summertime and you'd go up to 20w50?

Based off of the above chart from the owners manual, you would run 10w30 until wintertime when you would switch to 5w30. You could run 10w30 all year round, depending on just how cold it gets in Canada land.
 
as from working in a quick lube oil shop for 2.5 years of my life i have became very familiar what to run in what cars and what oils to use to quiet down ticking and what not. i have had 5 different DSM ranging from N/T to GSX and i have always ran 3.5 quarts of Mobil 1 5w30 with 1 quart lucas oil stabilizer. even in the winter months. has had lifter tick with every turbo car until i changed the oil to my preference. but dont get me wrong i know friends that run valvoline 5w30 non synthetic all day long in their car and they have had no issues. and another thing no matter what you here about how long you can go on synthetics or non synthetics please just change your oil every 3,000..... and get a mitsubishi oil filter from the dealership.. they seem to flow the best.
 
No that really does not make a difference......however My engine builder told me that he recommends staying away from mobil 1 all together for turbocharged engines....he said its like water when heated by the turbo.....since he told me that, I have been using castrol syntec............I do however use M1 EP in all of my other vehicles. just my $.02

Your mechanic has an odd way of doing things. Maybe Porsche and Audi engineers dont know what they are doing when they put mobil 1 in the turbo models.... Or Corvettes...

I agree there is alot of Cars filled from the Factory with Mobil 1
 
you'll be fine, I used it for 2years now and no issues and if you go to there site, they give you a huge list of cars that come with MB1SY from the factory.
