I know of the 2003 Benz s-430 in my driveway that came from the factory with mobil-1.

wow what a bunch of whiners. MY 2002 TRANS AM I use M1, my pickup gets M1. you are all free to do what you want but if the guy that built my 12k engine says he would not use it in his engine then im gonna go with what he says not a bunch of guys on a forum that can list of how many cars come filled with mobil 1. To each his own but to answer the original question YES, MIX AWAY!!

Castrol Syntec isn't really synthetic. They start with regular oil and refine it to a point where they can legally call it synthetic.

Oh yeah and for those of you saying "its whats used in your car" GREAT. I USE IT. My mechanic is not a "moron" he is in fact one of the top, respected engine builders in the DSM community. You should all stop jumping to conclusions and jumping all down peoples shit like that. Most of what you will read in internet forums is opinion, and many peoples opinions at that. If your going to make a statement against someone, back it up with a little more than, "well my car uses it"

Why the hell are you using 15-50? Factory recommended viscosity is 10w30. 50 is a big jump from 30 like honey versus watery syrup. That's gonna offer a lot less protection. Higher viscosity equals less coverage, ie; a thinner coating of oil on your cylinders/bearings which can lead to higher heat and additional wear. Unless you like premature wear. Then by all means, fill her up.

Your mechanic is a retard. Maybe Porsche and Audi engineers dont know what they are doing when they put mobil 1 in the turbo models.... Or Corvettes...

Correct me if i'm wrong but don't those porsche and audi's both have rather large oil coolers? I think you might find that they do. The point was that some would say that a 15-50 is not the ideal oil. some turbo cars run 5w30 would you put that in your dsm?

I do. I've used Mobile 1 5w30 in all my DSMs and have never had a bearing failure, ever - built or stock. I have also never had abnormal levels of bearing particulate measured in my oil. For what it's worth to you, Mitsubishi recommends up to 10w30 for all 2G 4G63Ts.

I never Said "Its whats used in your car"I don't think anyone did... .I said it's what Mitsubishi uses from the factory for the Evo and allot of other companies do also... But Yes I use it my car also... Mobil 1 10w30 have for a long time... Pretty sure whoever made the statement doesn't need you to tell everyone what they think, Why don't you stick with What You Think and Have learned for experience

uhm im using thicker stuff considering i have 123,000 miles on my car plus i been using it ever since my car was tuned and modified so for about 5yrs now. thats what ams recommended i use they did all the work on my car. and less protection? dude please u dont know nothin about cars! my engine is totally quiet and smooth i have no lifter tick either so go do some research before u speak.

id never use light weight oil in my engine considering the miles and mods. plus 15w-50 has been doin nothin but good things for my engine i have no lifter tick once so ever or problems...my engine is quiet and smooth....plus my engine looks brand new inside so that stuff is good!

Left is Shell Rotella-T @ 8100 miles, second column is the avg., and the third column is Mobil 1 @ 2600 miles.

Rotella's formula has recently changed to a lesser quality, cut back on their anti-wear additives. There have been a few threads about it on the old school boards I'm on.

Those changes affected all gas engine oils. From what I can find, diesel oil did not change.

Castrol GTX 20W-50. Thinking about going syn but I love this stuff. Ever since the rebuild (~10k) I've been on GTX and I've had absolutely no problems whatsoever. Plus, after paying for $15 w/filter for an oil change $8/qt does not look so nice. FWIW, I have heard the same thing about M1 in turbocharged cars. No experience with it so I will not say that I agree for sure, but I have heard that from a few. Just my .02.

i used rotella 15w-40 on my talon with a 155k on it...got solid oil pressure no wear everything ran smooth there is nothing wrong with higher weight oil on a broken in motor its new when u have to keep the weight in mind...i just stick away from synthetics the molecules are so much smaller than conventonal and can acutally cause you to smoke or leak cause they get threw easier...been proven!

yeah i used to run that till my engine builder told me to run 20-50. and i will say that i never had any problems with it either!! hell my wifes 1999 hyundai has had mobil 1 in it since the first oil change......140k and it doesnt even burn oil!! its good stuff for sure.
