Which kind of power steering fluid?

Alright, I went down to pick some up for my 1997 talon. The guy at the counter said that it calls for automatic transmission fluid. But I've read in a few places not to use that. So what do I use?

Yes, Auto trans fluid dexron II, straight from the Service Manual. That is also what I personaly use. I got the valvoline brand.

Ha, in my beater I put in what ever is thick and I have available. It leaks and I dont wont to fix it. So I run 80/90, lucas and hydraulic fluid. right now all three, it been working just fine for three years now.

Yes, that is for the manual transmission, even though it says auto transmission.

Not sure if you were asking if this applies to cars with manual transmissions or if you can also use manual transmission fluid. If the latter, no. ATF is different.

I've used PS fluid - it's stated on the label of the bottle.

The fluid is clear instead of red like ATF. ... in both my manual and auto DSM's.

Right now I'm using a mixture of both ATF/PS. Seems fine.
