which coilovers to choose

I have a feeling jtoby will have something to say about BC's upper hat design compared to RRE/DG's. I seem to remember him saying something about the thicker the upper hat, the more it will restrict the movement. I could be way off here though.

Wow, this thread should have been over 5 pages ago :ohdamn:

Ontop of the fact that in general most of the ~$1K crap coilovers are improperly designed, ask someone who has actually dyno'd the shocks & tested spring rates of these coilovers what they think of the product. I'm sure crap would be their response, if they were feeling polite ;) Their all basically the same & Tein falls into this crap category.

Top hats can be purchased from here:

It's simply a matter of there being less suspension travel. There isn't a lot of travel to begin with on the 2g fronts. The pillowball mount needs to be there but it needs to take away as little travel as possible.

Damn we need this thread 1G style.

Koni's are discontinued for the 1G, otherwise I would have the Koni combo.
1g's don't have the same issue with improperly designed coilovers, but the quality of the shocks are still an issue. Jump into the Road Racing forum and you'll find some more info and can see what others have had success with.

ROFL ROFL ROFL ROFL ROFL

I don't know how I've never seen that. Hilarious!

You know that saying: "I don't care what they say about me, as long as they spell my name correctly"?

Oh, well.

With that said, it is still pretty funny.

I guess I'll have to go back to giving that sheet away for free, just to annoy him "som" more.

Wow, i am totally glad I read this thread!

A whole lot of excellent research and knowledge.

Konis and gc. Thats the ticket, LOL.

Jtmcinder, you are as hilarious as you are informational. You may be my DSM hero right now. Priceless.

Well I did manage to find new 1G AWD Koni rears at $168per..they are not a suporting vendor and their check out process is moronic. JT what do you think of that 1G camber/caster plate fron GC??

I demand details!

But be careful, becuase I've located several sites that "have" them also, and then you find out they really don't. Koni stopped making them. I asked Koni what it would take to reinstate manufacturing these and they replied saying they needed 100+ car sets to offer them again. This is way out of the scope of a group buy IMO, unless you linked it across several forums.
