i cant decide which dp to go with its either megan, rsr, or tanabe. anyone can help me with the good and the bad to each dp.

thanks

As I can see your located in California, so I am assuming that smog testing will be an issue for you. Both, the RS-R and the Megan downpipe are cat-eliminating, which could then be a problem for you. The Tanabe dp keeps the stock cat. The RS-R seems a bit expensive, even more than the Tanabe.

Aye I was just about to post a similar question. I was looking at apexi catback exhaust 3" and apexi downpipe. But on slowboysracing.com It dosen't specifi how big the downpipe is either 2.5 or 3" and it dosen't say if it eliminates the cat but its 280.00. On dejonpowertools.com it only has apexi downpipe not the catback but on there it says there downpipe is 3" and eliminates the cat there price is 208.00 which dosen't make much sense to me.

Does anyone know if on slowboysracing.com if apexi downpipe is 3" and eliminates the cat?

And does anyone have any suggestions of other exhaust systems I should look at?

Are there any other good websites to look at exhaust other then slowboysracing.com and dejonpowertools.com that I could proble get more use out of for better prices, details, and options.

Any suggestions on a specific exhaust I might want to look at that is good? Anyone have a problem with apexi?

i was looking at getting the tanabe downpipe, because i was also thinking of getting the ultra medalion to match, anyways, does anyone know if the tanabe dp has a flex section, because i have seen pics of it and i havent seen it, unless it is one of those things where its like, "product may not be exactly as shown"...?

Apexi downpipes are always cat eliminating, the N1 and the GT version of it, while the GT is the only one that's made of stainless steel.

This dosen't seem true or correct me once again if im wronge. But on the Impressive Import Performance website it says the apexi downpipes connects to the cat.

And when you say cat eliminating what does that mean, does it totaly remove the cat and what goes in its place?

I have the Megan 2.5" - 3" Downpipe. I have just purchased the RNR Racing 3" Stainless Steel Catback Exhaust w Magnaflow 3" inlet 2 X 2.5" outlet exhaust. I also have a 3" High Flow Cat which I will put into the downpipe section to make it street legal. When Its all installed I'll let you know how it all fits. Should fit great though.

So the race pipe isen't street legal?

So If I want to get a new downpipe and cat I want to get the...

2G AWD Short EVO O2 Housing
2G AWD High Flow Cat

then I just need to get catback exhaust for the rest correct?

**EDIT**

Ok I found a few places to get apexi N-1 Catback exhaust, and the apexi downpipe. Both are 3" and the muffler is 4". But it also says the muffler has a silencer in it.

My only question is where can I find a new cat converter??? I found only 1 and that was on slowboysracing.com and it was a magnaflow high flow.

im not to worried about the smog i'll just probably just pay some one off. but im also looking to get the electric cut out welded to the end of my dp, so im looking at getting a good soild dp. i have heard bad things about apex dp and good about megan but then again it is cheap compared to to other dp. i havent really heard much about tanbe, rsr or rre. also has anyone heard anything good or bad about welding the electric cut out to the dp

Correct the Test pipe is not street legal AND if you live in California you could face some fines and issues with getting the car registered. Also, it is my understanding that without the cat you will be throwing ECU codes, so you will need to get and electrical sensor eliminator for the second O2 sensor in your exhaust.

Here is what I am doing for an exhaust. I have a Megan downpipe and a 3" high flow Cat. I am going to take it to a muffler shop and hack off the section where the Cat would normally sit and flange it so I can mount the cat normally, yet still have the possibility to switch it out for a test pipe when racing... etc... Then I am getting a 3" cat back exhaust with the secondary O2 sensor bung. I got mine from Raymond at RNR Racing, 3" SS Catback with a 3" Magnaflow muffler. I was going for an as close to stock look as possible. I frankly am not a fan of the large circular mufflers. http://www.rnrracing.com

The high flow cat is a magnaflow design. If you live in California, you will need an OBD-II compliant cat. Mine is not since I don't live in California and my state is not overly strict. I really am only installing the cat to help reduce noise and so I don't get that annoying check engine light.

I use an ATR performance pipe with o2 housing eliminator. No cat on my baby, and she's never thrown a code. I replaced both sensors when i put in the unit, and i'm good to go. But, each car is a little different. Normally, if you get the infamous PO412 (i think thats it) code, you just pop out each o2 sensor, clean em off, and away you go.

thanks for your help i amtalking to someone from rnr who is going to help me with making a dp with a cutout attached. i havent got the details yet but when i do i'll make some more post
