Where to run my external wastegate from ?

It works just as it should as if it were mounted on the exh mani.
When the wastegate sees the boost pressure that has been dialed in it does its job and opens and the excessive gases are released.

Actually, a manifold mounted gate is one of the worst designs possible. What happens if that 1 runner does not have enough gas in it to vent to control boost? Are you expecting the gas from the other runners to run BACKWARDS through the #1 runner to supply it? That is one of the worst things you can do.

Honestly, put a gate at the collector, or put it of the volute of the turbine housing.

There is SO much expansion (and theoretically pressure drop) in exhaust gas from a TD05h turbine into a 3" exhaust, that recirculating the gate pointing down the exh stream might help direct flow and add velocity back into the ex gases.

Exhaust gases come out of the turbine in a helix. Having a stream of gases entering the pipe soon after the circling gases exit the turbine wheel will cause them to loose momentum and become more turbulant. I can see it directing the flow down the pipe, yes. But not without taking the momentum the gases already have away. As the particles from the different streems moving with different characteristics colide, particles from both streams will travel in very random directions and consequently turbulance will insue.

The more mass your pushing out of the turbine wheel, the more this helical flow pattern is still occuring farther down the pipe. Can the evo3 16g flow enough for one to wonder if the helical flow is long enough down the exhaust pipe while the gate is open? I don't know. But I'd gather it's possible. If you're going to push the turbo to the absolute limit then the gate will be closed anyway.
