Where is my oil going?

Ok the car is consuming a good amount of oil, to where i have to top it off every 4 days or so. There are no oil leaks, the compression is 195 across, the car doesn't smoke. Sometimes on cold start ups it will smoke for a minute but thats it. On cold start ups the car will shoot out black stuff from the exhaust. Any ideas on where my oil is going?

my guess would be you are using too heavy an oil... i saw a guy that had a new engine and it consumed alot of oil.. it so happens the shop that did it forgot to put the cover back on the head... im not sure what the cover is called, but i know its right by the cam angle sensor when the valve cover is off... how is your oil pressure?

oil press. is fine, i'm using 10w-30 valvoline non-synthetic.

Could it be possible that oil is leaking at one of my oil passages on the HG? There is no oil in the coolant, or coolant in the oil. I'm just trying to figure out where its going.

I know you said you have no leakes but Ive got to ask because these are some problem area's of oil leaking, have you had it up on a lift and and checked all around the oil pan? The oil line in the front of the oil pan leading up to the turbo is there any oil on that? How about the oil filter housing area?

Yes we pulled it into the pit at work and there are no oil leaks. Every morning when i start it the car smokes for a minute then stops, what could that be? Is it possible to have good compression but still have oil get past the rings? I have a feeling that it might be the valve seals, even though they are new. When the car sits over night the oil around the seals falls onto the pistons and then burns off when i start the car up. So since it only smokes for a short amount of time it might be the seals. Hmm guess its time for a leak down test.

You can have good compression and still use oil. Your turbo bearings may be shot causing oil to go past them, valve seals, valve guides, worn piston rings etc . This problem usually is a cause of many worn out parts/seals not just one on a stock engine.
Compession test really doesnt tell you that much about the condition of the motor. I use it in checking how close each cylinder is to each other in psi.
Check your pvc for proper operation. A stuck open pcv will suck oil into the intake and make a nice mess in there.

Alright pcv is working, valve guides/seals are new, only have 3,000mi on them. Is there a way to test if my turbo seals are shot?

That would have been my next guess after rings and leaks, were it not that the smoking stopped when warm... Tell you what.. you need to have someone follow behind you and do some accel and deceleration runs. have your friend keep track of when and if the car smokes... if it's rings or vavle stem seals. it'll do it during the test.

im blowing blue smoke under boost, but no oil in the ic pipes.is this the turbo seal between the exhaust wheel and the center cartridge?

Well just an update, i changed out my vavle cover for a new painted one with a new Pcv and now the oil levels seem to be in check. So i guess even though i checked the old pcv and thought it was good, it must have been bad. The new pcv fixed the problem.
