I have a 95 GSX with an ACT 2100 with a 6 puck. Im not sure if I have the old or the updated version but I just finished a fresh motor rebuild, installed clutch and transmission, dropped it in the car and I have this probelm: When I start to accelerate from a dead stop I can sometimes feel the clutch grabbing tight, then weak, then tight, then weak very rapidly and it creates a vibration/light jerking affect. It varies how hard i feel it by how fast I release my clutch and how high or low I rev. I was thinking that I may have a warped flywheel but I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this issue before I just order a new throw out bearing, flywheel and a street disk. I bought this car from a friend with a blow motor and he had around 200 miles on this clutch setup. I don't know if he broke it in correctly. Also, I didn't have the aligment tool but I used a socket that fit into the clutch disk and I used a digital caliper to measur from the edge of the inner clutch fin (?) to the socket in 4 locations to best center it. Any info would be great. Thanks

the alignment tool is so that the input shaft will go into the disk. you're past that issue

its possible he didn't surface the flywheel when he did it, and if you take the pp bolts out not in sequence it is possible to warp it.

but overall i'd have to agree with the above post

I've read about clutch chatter but I didn't know it was normal for a 6 puck design. I've also read that it's not recommended to use a 6 puck anyways due to 2G's having the crank walk issues. Thanks for the info but I think im going to order a street disk anyways and just have my flywheel resurfaced.

You've got it backwards. There is LESS pressure on the thrust bearing with the ACT2100 compared to the ACT2600. http://www.roadraceengineering.com/clutchpressure.htm

Puck discs are sometimes not recommended because they provide instant engagement, sometimes chatter (depending on sprung or unsprung) and are harder on the axles. I chirp my tires in every gear when I shift with 12 PSI on a T25 with my ACT 2100 with a 6 puck sprung hub disc.

It could also be that clutch pedal isn't adjusted properly. I had some shaking/vibration in the pedal and I adjusted my pedal again and everything was great. Give it a try
