Im not sure if this is normally but right now i have a 1997 eclipse gst spyder with an evo 3 16g, running on stock boost. This only happens sometimes but when i shift at around 3k rpm from 2nd-3rd-4th-5th. The moment i push in the clutch all the way i make sure i take my foot completely off the gas and the engine will rev giving it an extra 200-300 rpms from where i pressed the clutch in. Im just wondering is this normal or is it a symptom of something? Just to let you know, i had a new clutch put in by a shop last week.

That could be. I have another thing you could check though. Mine did exactly what you describe. When I pushed in the clutch the rpm wouldn't drop or would even raise more. My throttle cable was actually getting stuck. This is really common with our cruise control system.

Try some wd40 on all parts of the throttle cable where it goes into the cruise boxes and also where it connects to the throttle body. I would see if that helps before messing with the clutch just because it is easier.

I ended up deleting my cruise control when I found out it was the culprit.

I've had a similar problem with my 90 GSX. I have had to train myself to let off the gas earlier in the shift, or I get that blip in rpm as soon as my clutch goes in. Since this always happens under boost I have assumed that either the bypass valve (BOV) is not opening quickly enough, or maybe because my throttle body needs a good rebuild and adjust.

Perhaps I'm just not yet acclimated to driving a turbo car. I suppose a quick check of the waste gate actuator and controlling source might be in order as well.

Yes a blt will also work for vacuume leaks. Instead of the engine sucking in air in vacuume it is being pressurized and air is being pushed through it my car used to do this and I sold it before I fixed it but the seals on the throttle body shaft started to leak. It's very common for our cars
