anyways i drove to school for the first time today and this happened.

it sounds like grinding/squeaking comming from the piston closest to the timing belt

Pull the pan.

Check for metal, and rod movement, all I can tell you.

Sounds like a spun rod bearing.

rebuild or 4g63 swap time. sounds exactly like a spun bearing and I would stop running it if you still are as the damage can get alot worse the more you drive or let it idle

Definatly sounds like you are going to have to pull the pan and look for damage. I wouldn't drive it anymore at this point.

befor you go pulling the pan I would get under the car and reach up and see if the alternater pully wiggles around.Sounds to me like the alt bearing is shot.Also open the timing cover and see if the belt is loose.what ever you do dont run it untill you find the problem

Everyone saw it was a 420 and thought, rebuild or some crazy shit. Remember to start small and then escalate.

Yes, it is driven off of the timing belt.

OP, make sure to replace all of the timing components when you change the water pump. You have to take it all off to get to the pump so now is the best time to replace everything.

Most people usually replace the timing belt, tensioner, idler pulley and water pump when they have to pull the timing belt.

Yes this ^^. I would highly recomend that you replace all of the components seeing as how your car has 124k on it. If it still has the stock tensioner and pullys you would be running a huge risk of having one of those pieces fail.

Yea make sure you do though. I did just my timing belt and water pump and now 10k miles later my tensioner is going out and is eating at my belt...definetely a waste of time and money.

well, im trying to find all these parts for cheap ### im nearly dead broke. And my concern now is to just get the car running again. It stalled out on me today and wont start up again. Throwing codes p0340 nd p0108

With the 420a you can get a lot of power if you rebuild it or turbo it but when you turbo you have to run barley any boost i honestly think the 4g63 i a better way to go

Is that a fact? So how am I running 28 lbs of boost at nearly 55 lbs/min of air? Stop trying to up your post count by adding meaningless/hearsay comments.

Yuck. I'd hate to think that the water pump got so bad that it threw the timing belt......

yea, well a few days later the belt snapped and bent valves. Its all rebuilt now. Just have to drop it in and hook everything back up
