What would be a good BOV for my 1G GSX?

Im looking for a good after market BOV for my 1G GSX.
I've read a lot of different post saying that the 1G BOV's leak during idle.
I was looking at the Greddy type RS and the HKS SSQV.
If you guys have any other suggestions as to what would be a good BOV then please let me know.
Also, on the car I'm buying, the BOV is vented. Should I recirculate it or just leave it open?
What are the pro's and con's of a vented BOV?
Sorry for all the questions but I'm a newbie with the whole 4G63 motor.

BTW, what mods do you have??? The BOV should not be the first thing to buy for the car. :thumb: :talon:
 
Here are the mods for the car:
- T3T4 turbo
- 2G ported manifold
- External waste gate
- 1G BOV vented
- 3000 GT fuel pump
- Ported & Polished head
- ACT 2600lb clutch
- Sidanza Aluminum light weight fly wheel
- Greddy turbo timer
- 660cc injectors

I wouldn't buy any BOV that vents, read the FAQ a section for more info.

They're vacuum-operated. You have high vacuum at idle. So they open. Which is part of why you aren't supposed to vent a DSM unless you've switched to a blow-through MAF.

You really can't much beat the stock 1G BOV.

GO with the hks ssq & also the hks eids if you want to vent to the atmosphere.

wow... i wonder if that really works. I was going to save up for a maf tanslator and gm maf. Buying the translator, maf, and bov is like $450+. $135 for a hks eids and $200 for a HKS SSQV Bov. $335 or $450+? HMMM..........
 
yeah it works perfect if you want to vta. i know a place that can get you an eids for $110.00
 
I'm interested in the HKS EIDS also how does that Hess Racing unit work? I dont really feel like spending money only to find out this crap dont work.. :laugh:
 
i have the turbo xs type h34 which can be recirculated or vented. I had it recirculated for about 6 months and everyone thought i was vented (very loud). Now i got a gm maf/maft and with it vented it scares the shit out of people.

Yeah it's a DEAL if you're buying a GM MAF/T to vent :rolleyes:
Maybe the MAF/T has other advantages?

No joke though, recirc your stock 1g BOV. it doeas leak at idle, but it leaks into the intake tract after the MAS, so no worries there, and you won't have to spend but a couple bucks getting a recirc tube.
