ok about a week ago i brought my car in to get serviced so i could get a new clutch put in because mine compleatly went. ok so i pick it up and the turbo is not working aside from a whining noise coming from the turbo but no boost, no spool up and its hesitating and bucking when i step on the gas...i brought it back and told them that the turbo was working fine before hand and now there is a problem..the next day he calls back and said he fixed it and all he had to do was replace a vaccume line...there was still whining going on and there is little to no boost...this is the third time going back and i told the guy to replace it becasue it was working fine before...he will not replace it and said its happening becasue i have an aftermarket air intake on it...plus i know whats wrong, the impeller is grinding against the housing which means the lazy shit never even botherd to really check it out...damn i have no idea what to do.....this shit is really pissing me off

Tell them your bringing your lawyer down to file a suit and if you could please make a appointment with his manager to prevent any legal action against them... should get the ball rolling quite nicely.

they prolly took ur car for a joy ride and ####ed it up

I agree on getting the lawyer to give them a call. That will let them know that things just got serious.

true...i have no idea how some mechanics even get to call themselves one...half of them have no idea what there talking about or hate there job so much they just dont do anything at work....ohhh yeah and the half im talking about also are a bunch of cheats and liars...

I once had a local performance shop totally screw up my suspension. The shocks came out of their mounts and one put a nice dent in my hood, almost came all the way through. I took it back and they gave me some line about how since the suspension i had on it in the first place was not stock, that it was missing parts and since that was the case he had nothing to do with the problems I had. This was over the phone. I told him that "We would be in touch later that week." and left it at that. I went back that friday with the car to show him what happened and once again he told me that it was not his fault. After lots of going back and forth, it was time to bring out the big guns. I asked him if he had ever heard of my uncle, and gave his name. He responed with a "no." I then proceded to explain to him that he was the head of the local chapter of the Better Business Bureau. The guy's only response was "well ok, what would you like me to do to fix all this." Soon enough i had the whole suspension redone by someone who knew what they were doing, and the hood was in the shop the next week. These guys are afraid of higher authority. They would rather loose a little bit of money on one install than a ton in a lawsuit.

ya threaten them, tell them your pressing charges on there shop. See what they do.

If they dont care, take the turbo out and have a real shop you can trust look over the turbo and tell you why the turbo is not working or take it apart yourself see if they dropped a screw inside the turbine were u connect the intercooler pipping to, ppl are dicks and will do that.

If it is bucking and popping, it could be an ic pipe loose. Did you check them already? Usually a bad turbo wont cause bucking, just no spool or power. Did you phisically check the turbo to see if the wheel is hitting the housing or was that just a guess? Im not trying to defend anyone but I would check these things before you make accusations and then make yourself look like a fool. Good luck either way.

"plus i know whats wrong, the impeller is grinding against the housing which means the lazy shit never even botherd to really check it out.."

i would suppose if hes making fun of the mechanic for not looking, that he looked himself. and i also supposed impeller means wheel. so yeh i would say he checked at a completely blown turbo. they mustve redlined it or something really stupid on the road.

That doesnt mean he checked it, could just be what he thinks the sound is. I wasnt trying to start a flame war, just making sure he covered his bases before he spends time and much needed dsm $ trying to battle someone when a simple twist of a screwdriver is all that is needed.

I wouldnt threaten them with the lawyer because they might not do anything except say "sue me". I would have a lawyer contact them but give them no warning as to what you are doing.

before doing that i would check all your ic piping because it sounds a lot more like a boost leak than a dead turbo to me... when my turbo went out it would still boost.. but it also shot an assload of smoke out the tailpipe and made a LOUD ass noise from the wheel hitting the housing.. aside from a bolt or something getting into your compressor intake i cant imagine how your compressor wheel could be so damaged that it is rubbing the housing without also having its shaft seals damaged causing oil to blow through and create a quite obvious smoke cloud everytime it spins. im assuming you already did check this since you are bitching about the other guy not checking it but you never know.. pull off your intake pipe and check for shaft play/look at the compressor, it shouldnt be hard to tell if its the turbo.. spin the wheel with your hand and see if it rubs.

im not compleatly sure which is why i never said anything strait out yet...just a good guess and reading up...the turbo though as soon as it hits 2800 rpm makes a high pitch whining noise kinda like a supercharger would make, i mean loud...like i can hear the sound boucing off houses when i drive by...and the boost is no where to be found...it feels like im driving my gf's cavalier...it sucks

What an uncanny coincidence that that very shop caught fire and burned to the ground next Tuesday. Very odd indeed.

indeed very odd, i could set it up to look just like an accident mmmyesss mmmmyessssss...... (insert evil laugh right here)

first mistake its taking it to a "normal" place for work. If you need someone to do work. i know a guy local to us PM or email me i will give you the info.

The shops that don't get a whole lot of business, it's for a reason. Most of the time you take your car in, they will fix what's wrong, but f*ck something else up as well, so you have to come back, and they get more money.

I took my car to a shop to get the power steering belt put on, and when I got my car back every single bolt on my exhaust was about to fall out, from the header all the way back to the cat - and 2 bolts on my header did fall out in the little time I was driving it.
