just bought this salvaged title eclipse from the auctions. of course people that dont know cars automatically assume that a FMIC and gauges on the pillar pod makes a race car (right). title on auction said race car. when i started digging into the car i found coil on plug setup. unusual that when i unplug the MAF sensor car idles fine. when i plug the MAF up, car instantly kills.

Also car has this ECU. of hand can you guys tell what this is? or is it just factory?

98-99 DSM ECU. You can flash it to tune it, using an OpenPort 2.0 cable and free software ECUFlash.

excuse my ignorance. where is there a write up or link to this "ECUFLASH". also is this coil on plug setup legite or some ebay knockoff?

For tuning, look up ceddymods. I helped test it when he was working on it, and it's really good (except for the fact that he seems to have quit working on it). It's similar to using the Evo 8 ECU. I have swapped back and forth between the 98-99 DSM ECU and the Evo 8 ECU, as the plugins are the same with just having to swap around a few wires.
