I broke my PCV valve off in the valve cover, after I drilled it out. Must have drilled it too big. Anyway, I need a tap to re-tap the hole in my Valve cover and I just can't figure out what size it is. I know it is metric, fine thread. Anyone out there know, or can tell me where to look? Thanks.

mine's 1/8" BSPT , although they may well have shoved something that size in there and effectively re-tapped it :|

Good luck, hope it comes out ok :)

Well I tried a 10mm x 1 fine thread bolt and it fit a little tight, so I don't think that is quite right. I may have to go to an auto parts store, get a PCV valve, and measure the threads on the part in order to get a tap that size? I wish someone out there had the means to measure and has the part on hand, or knew off the top of their head. Hope someone knows....

Hey for the time and effort you are going to invest into that ordeal and still maybe fail. Why not consider spending 20 buck's for a new sweet jdm or hyundai valve cover thats perfect and buy a new OEM pcv valve and screw her right on up in that hole. install a catch can or dont install a catch can either way it will work. I have done the same thing your trying to do my friend, spending 25 bucks and calling it done w/o the bs stuff in between is always nice. I know of a place arond here that has quite a few of the "rare" hyundai cover's I could def snag you one if the price is right. A pcv valve wll cost you 5 or 6 bucks,

Do not retap, or do anything... If you want , you could use 1/8npt thread. It is a little different, but fits and doesn't leak. Just put a little teflon paste on it. I had a gauge attached to the front of the head/oilpressure/ and didn't leak at all.

If the hole is bigger than it was how would re-tapping it work? The hole is going to be larger, the thread pitch might be the same but diameter won't be. The only way I see it working is if it's just barely larger and u use nylon tape on the pcv valve. U need a thread pitch gauge to check the threads on the pcv valve.

The stress of my pending overhaul is making me delirious a tiny tiny bit as well. Freakin newb right 8 years into my dsm ownership adventure.
