what size Injectors should i get??

Yes get those same exact 650cc.
Why ? It costs almost the same as the 550cc counterpart and if you ever want to up the boost you have extra space for room to grow and no need to worry about maxing out the injector. Go with the 650's.

It really is more a matter of what are you tuning with? If you are using an SAFC then I would avoid the 650s, you can tune them but it will be more of an issue and your timing curve will be very aggressive. If you're using a flashable ecu, dsmlink or something with higher capabilities then I would suggest 900+cc injectors in case you want to move to e85 some day.

I have FIC 650s and I do NOT like them. Ever since I installed them I have been unable to tune out a start up problem. This is with DSMlink. It seems like everytime I start my car it stumbles on its face until I get the car under load. It's really bad when the engine is warm. From what I've read a lot of people have this problem. I swapped the 450s back in and everything was fine. I've learned to live with it but I'll be switching to some larger injectors soon. :notgood:

If you have link or other tuning besides safc/maft, go larger if you have the funding if you ever have the slightest idea for more power or upgrading. E85? Blown 16g? New crazy idea? Saves money in the long run if you plan ahead.

i agree, it all depends on your future plans and fuel management support. w/ e85 around that brings another piece to the equation. if you tune w/the afc 550's will be fine. if you do a maf/maft setup or link then defenitely go higher for the play around factor since you can tune the injectors down with the link and maf/maft setup. i use seimens deka's there great.good luck in your search..

so i should get 900cc or higher? just to plan for the long run and save more money? i was thinking that to. i also need to buy the dsm link. :ohdamn:

As others said, it depends on what you are going to use to tune. If its DSMLink then go with a bigger injector so you aren't buying parts twice. If you're going to use an SAFC then 900s or higher will be a major pita to try and tune.

I have link so i went with FIC 1050s.

I went with FIC bluemax 1250s and am only on the e316g. Plan on upgrading down the road and maybe e85 if I can find a place around here when I get my car back AGAIN.

Then plan on your budget to figure out what you should get. If you plan on getting link soon, then I would wait on injectors (or get them at the same time, if able). If you won't have money for link anytime soon and need injectors, then you'll have to stick with 650cc or less to be able to use the S-AFC. And then when you get link, you can purchase larger ones if desired/needed.

yea well i do have a 1998 eclipse gsx.... i had a 97 but sold it. i do have the SAFC. but i wana buy the dsm link.

Do you realize then that 98 ecus are flashable? This is only a recent thing but with Ceddy's great work you can now directly manipulate the fuel tables, timing tables, and injector sizing. He also just released a patch to add mods such as launch control, NLTS, CEL on knock, etc. and it will only cost you about $180 for the cable and about $25 for the logging software in order to have a very highly tuneable car.

If you want link that is great. You get what you pay for and I've heard link is the best there is but just flashing the ecu can do what a large section of dsmlink users need and want.

Not everyone has the knowladge to use the flashable ecu though even if it is cheaper. I'm sure with time it could be a good choice but you do get a very nice logger with link though.

They can have it with a couple hours of reading. It really wasn't that hard to learn and was WAY easier IMO than an SAFC. Honestly if all you want is fuel and timing tuning with some basics then for the price difference between dsmlink and flashable ecu being around $600 (including new eprom ecu) I think someone could spend some time learning how to flash and not feel cheated.

do you have a AFPR for that wally FP... and 650cc are pushing it for a SAFC...

Where do you come up with this?
Why post something that's totally incorrect?

The sAFC can reliably control +/-50% of the stock injector size.
Basic math puts the 650s right in the spectrum.
700's are pushing it :p

I think there may be enough in$entive to make it worthwhile in this case for many people. If not then for half of the difference you could put all the parts together, limp it to a professional tuner and get it done for you. For $50 you could have half of the local community wherever you are lining up to tune the car, half of those would do it for free.

Honestly I wonder why the evo community hasn't come up with an auto tuning utility since in my (somewhat sketchy) opinion it shouldn't be that hard to write if you can configure it to get a wideband, knock, rpm, and load input. Just run a couple pulls then show the user a new map to approve. It might take someone a fair amount of work but quite a bit less IM(SS)O than some of the other patches. Eventually such a utility would migrate to the DSM community and we could all point a lot of newbies at it then answer their blown motor questions when they point their NBO2 sensors at the wideband input.

I guess I've just spent too much time in the Engine Management section where most of the people that I interact with are making the shit up as they go and don't have the luxury of reading.

He's talking about the hellatios timing advance that come with 650cc and higher compensation. Just because it CAN doesn't mean it's not pushing the setup. It's not RELIABLE when timing advance is so high that you have to run lower boost than you ought to and your past mean best timing to even make more power. Because one will try to juggle those lit torches and get burned with a blown headgasket or worse.
