So I will be buying a car in the next few months. Up until a few weeks ago I was going to get either a S4 or S60R because I thought the SS and SRT4 were going to be too expensive on insurance. But I got a quote today and they fit the bill.
I realize that the S4 and S60R are better in pretty much every way because they are AWD and luxurious, but the SRT and SS are much cheaper and way easier to find in my area. The S4 and S60R I would most likely have to import from the states which is again more money I would have to spend.
What do you guys think I should get, and why.

I would go with the Audi S4. I love the way the Audi looks very clean. But i like the SRT4 as well.
 
My mom has a Cobalt SS, non SC. Talk about torque steer. With just the 2.4L engine in it, it will light up the tire when accelerating from a stop sign, especially after being used to AWD and a bit of turbo lag. The thing feels like a tin can while driving it. Don't even think of driving it in the snow with the stock tires.
 
The Audi and Volvo are both ridiculous on cost/price to fix, so I would go SRT-4. Cheaper to find, cheaper(for the most part) to fix, and with some good extra sticky street tires you can cut some nice 60' times. Avoid the slowbalt, they aren't worth the time imo. If you ARE going to be getting a slowbalt, get a Turbo slowbalt, and not a Supercharged Slowbalt.
 
AUDI FTW! that is the way you do it my friend. price range here is so wide I see.
 
The Audi and Volvo are both ridiculous on cost/price to fix, so I would go SRT-4. Cheaper to find, cheaper(for the most part) to fix, and with some good extra sticky street tires you can cut some nice 60' times. Avoid the slowbalt, they aren't worth the time imo. If you ARE going to be getting a slowbalt, get a Turbo slowbalt, and not a Supercharged Slowbalt.

They're not that expensive really, especially considering how often they need work(just about never). I have NEVER had to work on a Volvo(except maintenance that every car needs) but have had to do more than maintenance on the rest of the cars listed.
 
S60R!!!! My mom has one and that thing frinkin rips and you can mod the crap out of it!!! it comes with 300whp and with exhaust intake FMIC and a tad bigger turbo 420whp no prob its called the evoled edition. thing is sick. good luck.

First off, I just wanted to thank you for how respectful your post was to me. I'm still struggling with not flying off the handle, seeing as how I was first a member of...a certain other DSM forums where it's common practice to just be an ass to the first one the replies to you. So honestly, and no I'm not being sarcastic, I can honestly see why your a wiseman. :)


And yeah, I'm not UBER crazy about anything on the list, but I just read up on the volvo and it looks pretty badass. Is the Volvo AWD? If so, then get the Volvo.

I finally forced my finace to get rid of her volva s70 turbo. I hated that car with a passion. Burned oil, Turbo started to go. Trans took a dump on us. One of the heated seats didnt work.

I couldnt stand that car at all. I have owned a couple of Audi's and love them. If I could find a nice 87 4000cs quattro with a 2.3l Turbo out of a 5k cs turbo I would trade my Talon in a heart beat.

Or an u r -Quattro.... makes me drool thinking of it.

Well it all depends on how she took care of it my mom takes her car in everytime the little triangle come on telling her its time. and I beat the piss out of that car and I havent had one problem. Now with audi's on the other hand Neighbor 1 blown 1 turbo and 1 headgasket neighbor 2 blown 1 turbo audi's and VW both pain in the rear much more than Volvo...probably a bias comment.
 
I loved my '89 760 Turbo station wagon and I sometimes still wish I had it.

My mothers '08 C70 is also nice (though not nearly as fast as the DSM). I was extremely impressed when I first drove it with the feel of the car and the minimal body roll even through tight corners it really is a nicely refined suspension. Unfortunately as a blend between a luxury car and a sports car is falls short of both, hopefully Volvo had more success with some of their other late models though, FWIW my mother couldn't be happier and can't think of a way to improve it.

Go with the Volvo you wont regret it, and if you do then you wont lose much in resale value.

Well to be honest my fiance is one of the smartest book smart people I have ever knew. Now she is the dumbest person I have ever met with common sense. She had sugery at the university and stayed at her dads house (hour away) for little over a week and I told her to check her oil before she left and she drove 42 miles with 1.5 quarts on oil in it. She burned up her turbo and told me she checked it. You want to know what she checked? The coolant res.. hahahhahaa I laughed so hard because I knew that I wasnt going to pay for it. I got her dad to let her trade it for a honda.

God I lover her but good lord she makes me shake my head sometimes.

But Im bias. I have owned Audi's and love the vehicles. Plus im german so I dont like the Volvo because its swedish. (its not one of the super hot models either.)
