okay i maybe able to help you is your car stick or auto. if it is manual and the battery is good and starter is good but wont engage there is two white connectors under the dash by the fuse box and the clutch pedal my car did same thing but you disconect the skinny white conector and it should let your car start. its the clutch safety switch. i could not figure out why my car would not turn on and did that started first shot if its automatic i have no clue other then the power window relay will not effect the starting of the car.

try it and let me know it worked on mine great and my window relay clicks like that also its because my fuse is blown in mine. hope it works for you.

That was not it. I have the battery in the back of my car and it sounds like I have a hot to ground because of the hissing noise. but I haven't touched anything that could trigger this?

Hmm ya never any good battery shouldnt be hissing. have you taken it to your local store to see if the battery is any good ive had a few that hissed when charged fully. i would check to make sure you have a good ground and the cables are on right post that would cause heating problems also. not saying you would do anything like that just can not see what your working with. did you relocate the battery to the trunk? Did you use the right size wires to do so that would cause heating problems also

Clean the connectors and check the ground wire where its connected to body and make sure its making good contact and grounding out properly. the only time I have seen a battery get hot like that is switching the cables around, putting a wrench in the middle to touch both post that's pretty funny to see someone do call it the fireworks show. Let me know what you find out pretty interesting.

it sounds to me like its your MFI/MPI relay its under the dash next to the ecu also check your fuel pump relay

I had a lot of problems with the "clicking" and no crank after my battery relocate.(sometimes i have to cycle the key fro on to start rapidly like 20 times to get it to start cranking) I ran 2 4Ga wires(one hot, one neg) all the way to the front and even grounded the neg in the back too. Im going to test running another 4Ga positive all the way up front today.
What kind of wiring are you using?

I own a 2006 lincoln LS and they come stock with the battery in the trunk. The wire they use is huge. Also the fuse box is right next to the battery.

I used big wire I think 0gauge like amp wire. It's been back there for about a year with no problems. I'm taking the battery out and charging it but I believe it's the fuel pump relay. I went and look at auto zone and there 220 dollars for one. I'm do electrical work by trade and I might be able to make a relay work.

Ya relays are not cheap. Unless you can find one in a salvage yard that's still good. I know there's one in the local salvage yard here so might check there first if you haven't already done so.

1g's don't have a relay specific to the fuel pump and i can't recall if the mpi relay powers the fuel pump or not. However there is a single wire electrical connector by the battery on the firewall that you can jump to the battery and it should cause the fuel pump to turn on.

Look it up the 1g'S have a fuel pump relay its located behind driver seat under the panel by the door. The only way I know this is because when I got mine my teacher made me diagnose all the components first and that's one of them that the computer brought up its in a weird position but it is there. most vehicles have a fuel relay under hood. We pull the relay to relieve the pressure in the fuel system to work on it safely. Not trying to sound smart or a know it all just want there to be correct information out there.

It was a relay. It was mounted right by the fuel pump and the contactor broke so it was trying to give positive to negative at all times. It's fixed now I just have tuning issues to solve some how. Thanks for your help guys.

Yes, the MPI relay on a 1G serves two functions, MPI power and the fuel pump. Two unique relays in the package. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/263224-mfi-mpi-relay.html

The MPI relay is attached to the outside center console passenger side on all 1G's I've seen. The relays behind driver seat under the panel by the door are for the rear wiper, dome light and seat belts.

Ya I was getting that information from Michelle ondemand 5 at school is what the wiring diagram showed it can be in either location. I am still new to these cars but I knew it had a relay connected to the fuel pump. Maybe the wiring diagram is wrong which could be possible there not always 100%
