hi i decided to go with a 2.4 build and wanted to know what pistons are recommended for a g4cs/4g63 setup? ive heard if i were to use the stock 1g or 2g pistons dat compression would be too high? what about stock g4cs pistons,im guessing it would be alot higher?

You have to use a forged piston with that setup. I ran the standard 87mm wisecos for 8 years in a g4cs block and finally melted one. My setup toward the end was a little over the top for what the motor was setup for 8 years ago LOL (gt4294, nitrous, 93 pump gas).

I am currently almost done my new g4cs, and went with custom Wiseco 9.0:1 HD pistons.

I would suggest just getting rods and pistons. I have a set of eagle rods for sale. You will most likely have to go .20 over. I tried to find a block to go standard 86.5 with but after digging through 4 and have 3 G4CS blocks sitting around I gave up and went .20 over again.

Rods are the same as any 2.0. Pistons are different, 2.0 is 85mm and 2.4 is 86.5mm bore. Get a good set of forged pistons, the pistons you want are 2.0 turbo pistons just with a 87mm or larger bore. That way you get the turbo compression ratio of 8.5.

No because the galant is non turbo and has a high compression ratio. You want the 2g pistons if you want 8.5 comp and 1gs if you want 7.8. The point is to have the TURBO pistons. They will be the same size ( wrist pin, height, dome depth, e.t.c) as any dsm turbo piston just with a larger bore. This is not a STROKER so no need for special pistons, the stroke of the crank makes up for the added deck height.

But you need them in a 87mm which I highly doubt they make a piston that large in cast. Reason being why he needs a of the shelf Wiseco which is listed as "4g64 w 4g63 head" 2.3 setup pistons the pins moved up 3mm into the oil control ring.

You want to make sure that you get the right pistons for the rods you are using also. If you order pistons for a 4g64 they will send you a piston that fits a 7 bolt rod which is +1mm larger on the small end. Who ever you order from tell then that you have a g4cs, if they don't know what that is, than call the next vendor.

wrong link and part number

i posted the part number and just tell the vender you are running a 2.4 6 bolt block with a 4g63 head. also if you want to save even more money you can buy manley pistons

How is it that you can use 1g or 2g pistons when I heard that if you were put 1g or 2g pistons your compression would be too high (over 10.1:1)
I heard you have to get low compression pistons for the 2.4 block, cus the turbo 1g or 2g pistons would give you high compression.

Do not use evo 10 / 1gen / 2gen for this build. what is your budget for pistons ???

Why shouldnt you? Isnt the G4CS the 6bolt version of the 4G64? So, wouldn't they have the same type of piston and rod setup? I am just asking because I am just getting fimiliar with the 4G64 because I just picked one up but, im not too fond of the G4CS.

Block is taller, no oil squirters, people can seem to make up there minds on what the comp is with the evo pistons are, wrist pin is lower, why would anyone half ass a build, just my 2 cents hope this makes sense just got back from happy hour

Negative. The 2.4L engines have a taller deck and the same rod length, so the wrist pin is moved down to compensate.

If I were building a 2.4, I'd go with Wisecos. They have standard sets as well as the HDs.

I was looking at dsmgraveyard, and on their 4g64 setup they have evo x piston and frankenstein rods running in them

I broke a crank there. The crank was also cut. When I got it back together with the same rods/pistons with a fresh polished magnafluxed crank and put a fluiddampr on I had no issues for 5 years until a Wiseco melted.
