What next?

Hello, about 7ish years ago I was driving my 97 eclipse RS in town and it just died. Motor stopped and everything shut off, inside and out. I was able to get pulled over where I was able to get it started again and drive it the 5 blocks to my parents driveway. It hasn't started since. Originally I had it towed to a shop and they told me that just from popping the hood they could tell the motor was blown and they wanted $5000 to fix it. I wasn't going to get that kind of money anytime soon so just parked it at home since.

After talking it over with a few people and stalking forums for a while, we thought that maybe it was something else. I got a brand new battery, pulled and tested the starter and alternator. All lights would turn on in and out of the car until turning the key when there would be a click and everything went out and stayed off, even after turning the key back to acc. We got new battery cables since they looked pretty bad and and tried it again. This time when turning the key there is a loud click, which was coming from the front of the car. all the lights went dim this time until returning the key to acc where they went back to normal brightness.

My question I guess is if there is anything else that I could/should check or if anyone has any ideas to what it could be. I would really like to make sure all possibilities have been gone over before we decide to pull the motor out and start digging.

Try to turn the motor by hand if it's really hard in the motor did lock up or if it's really easy then you might have been some valves

Sounds like a bad mpi relay/fuse bro, I'd start there.
