I think I am going to go with one of the 2 1/2"Punishment Racing downpipes and then have a local shop do a custom 2 1/2" w/ test pipe,no emissions tests here is Tulsa,Ok. I just do not want to blow money on a muffler that sounds like BRRRRRRRICEE. Any advise Please.
Also any input on the things above I am thinking about.

im sure the magnaflow wont make much difference untill it has balls behind it.

and was that a magna muffler or full exhaust? im probly getting the muffler and dont wanna be losing any hp hehe

that could have been the case before i said the mods we were using each car had a little more or a little less but they were all full exhaust systems

i just got a 3" N1 downpipe and 3" N1 cat back...cant wait to put it on my DSM and get that growl out of it....

heres a question..... im getting my full exhast for my 96 GSX in a few days (3" N1 A'PEXi downpipe and exhast)....im upgrading from my stock to that one....how much HP and torque can i expect to gain?

I'm not too sure but when I got my Apexi N1 Catback I loved it. I dunno if it was just me but I could tell a difference in power. :thumb:

I think in another thread someone had a dyno of close to 30hp?

someone correct me on this if im wrong.

I think the gains might increase as the over all engine power does

I.E. youd probly get more gains out of it on a 11 second setup then a 14

What size and type of Magnaflow fits on our car and sounds the best!?

I just recently purchased a 2.5'' MagnaFlow muffler from Buschar Racing. I have to admit I absolutely love the deep bassy sound it gives off. :D The welding looks impeccable, too. Here is a shitty pic:

yeah i just picked up my buschur 2.5" SS mandrel catback.. and it came with a funky ass magnaflow muffler that has a different looking tip welded on... its actually a bit longer.. can't wait to bolt her up.. anyone have problems with the fuzz, with they're buschur exhaust?

i have a 3" thermal, with 3"high flow cat, and a custom downpipe, the sound is amazing. If you got the money to buy it, you gotta get it.

Wait, so now exhaust angle is a determining factor on being a ricer now?

Spyder, did you know on the awd's that you can run straight back and 1 45 degree angle and it will be the highest flowing exhaust on a slant? Running 2 90's at the end of an exhaust system is the worst thing you can do.. A lot of hatches also do it for high-flow also... But I do agree that it is used for show now more than for purpose... They see something and blow it out of proportion.

Anyways... if you have the money go with thermal... wait if you dont have the money.. save!

btw: Anyone have the apexi world sport (WS) cat-back?

i dont have a muffler just a tip..straight pipe..sounds great, and i just passed emmissions so no problems there. :thumb:

Same one I got. Can't beat the price :thumb: But your tip looks different? I dunno there. It was easy to bolt up. No fuzz problems here.

My VRS exhaust came with a 3 inlet/outlet and sounds great. I went with the 3 in o2 eliminator turboback from slowboy. :thumb:

As long as your muffler isn't too big your car shouldn't sound ricey. 2.5" piping will also help reduce the loudness. My muffler is only 3" or maybe a tiny bit bigger, and I love the sound of my car. It's reasonable under normal acceleration, but it's loud and intense during WOT runs. As well, I can cruise at 85+ on the highway without the noise getting out of hand.

I actually had the Apexi WS catback on my Integra GSR and LOVED it. Kept the noise to a minimal purr, even during WOT. and this is on a nonturbo car. Seemed to help alot for the lowend to midrange torque. If they actually made one for 1g AWD's id buy one in a heartbeat. Only exhaust systems ive ever bought for my cars have always been Apexi.

But yeah...my TSi came with an exhaust the previous owner had custom made. Its 2.5 thw whole way through, from the DP, right down to the muffer (muffler has a wide opening though) which is a Magnaflow. Its actually quite loud imho. Loud enough to have been cited for it in the middle of the day. An officer actually heard me coming while he was sitting at a gas station down the street. If i happen to get cited again, i'll probably have a custom exhaust built with a stock'ish muffer. what size is the stock exhaust? 2.25 inches? Im not worried about going fast. I've heard alot of people can go mid 13's, but usually high 13's on stock exhaust.

Oh yeah, my buddy has a 3 inch thermal exhaust on his TSi, and it sounds really nice. very throaty at WOT. If i ever had the cash for one, i'd hit it.
