best sounding muffler?

I had a Magnaflow muffler with full 3" pipes (catless) and it sounded amazing. Easily the best sounding 1g I have ever heard in person.

Scratch that, I can't find the video of my 1g. Magnaflow has a nice deep tone, not ricey like a Civic. Thermal also makes really nice sounding mufflers. But the truth is our little 4 bangers will never sound as throaty as v8's or large v6's.

Unless your not packing much heat, a muffler won't do much for you...especially if it's just a cat back.
I've come to find out that an FP manifold releases the "monster" withing the car.
I've heard cars with and without FP manifold nearly same identical mods...and the one with the FP sounds more throaty.

Well you can get that subie sound your looking for but its going to involve a huge duration cam. Like the V8's you get that throaty grumble from the cam's lope. Personally I would just make your own. I have made a few from bike mufflers that I have modified, others from large tube's for an outer casing. It just depends on how much silencing you are trying to get out of it. You can pick up the packing material fairly cheaply and pack your own muffler to make some amazing sounds. You just dont want a strait thru design if you plan to control sound at all.

Maybe an HKS exhaust system? I have a greddy exhaust system, don't remember exactly wich one but it sounds nice.

...nearly anything sounds good on a DSM-ive ran a bit of everything...straight pipe, magnaflow, ebay fart can, Greddy Evo2, catback, catless, turbo back....its impossible to make a 4g63 sound bad.

On 2 different eclipses' I have an apexi muffler ( doesn't sound bad at all, especially for being on a 420A with minimal work) and I have a flowmaster:notgood: on my GSX.... BAD IDEA!! I can't wait to take it off. it drones out at a steady speed. I'm looking into borla myself.

I have a rex of my own with a 40 series catless up and catless srs downpipe and ive yet to find another four cylinder that sounds as throaty.

I hear ya on that, i ran a full 3" turbo back with a catless dp on my STi and i never heard another 4 banger rumble like a boxer.

My gst i have a 3" catless dp and some ebay catback, doesnt sound bad at all, i just need to get rid of my exhaust leak.

if you want a nice throaty sound just cut out like a 6inch piece of your exhaust.LOL i have a thermal exhaust on mine and i love it.not too loud and annoying like alot of other cars.

Look at youtube videos and pick the sound you like the best. I liked the Thermal R&D muffler sound the best so I bought it. I got a 3" turboback with it so I'm sure that helped too.
