What MPH you see on top of 2 and3 gears??

The reason I am asking is that I saw some DSM video the other day and by 8K speedo on that car was at almost 72-75 mph. The car in the video was 2G. My car is 1G, perfect shape and by 8300 RPM I am somewhere around 68 MPH/2 gear. My MPH should have been a lot more I think.
On the other hand the gear ratios om 1g and 2G are the same. I am using 17" wheels and assume most people too. Is it possible that mine or his/guy in video/ speedo's are that much off of each other.On top of 3 gear , I am getting about 105MPH at same rpm 8300. Does that sounds correct?

It's possible that the car in the video was a FWD 2G. They will be able to get more MPH of of each gear as opposed to an AWD car.

maybe a rebuilt trans with evo 1-3 gear sets? I know for a fact that 1st and 5th are taller but not sure about the other gears.

The speedometers aren't very accurate. Usually you will find a +/- 5% accuracy (which would be +/- 4mph at 80mph) which is pretty much what you're reporting if both vehicles are on either end of the accuracy range. That 5% accuracy is what is allowed in newer cars now I believe as I know a lot of hondas a couple of years back had a recall because their speedometers were way off. If you want to know your true speed, the best way would be to use a GPS device and/or compare your trap speed at the track with your speedometer as you're crossing the 1/4 mile.

According to dsmlink, in 2nd i'm at 68mph at 7500rpm and in 3rd 103mph at 7400rpm.

So at 8300 rpm I should really be way above 70 MPH andprobably around 108-110 in third.

One thing that not many people seem to talk about is that 97-99's have a different Tcase ratio and therefore can get a few more MPH out of each gear.

Anybody know how the 97-99 gear ratios relate to gas mileage?

For instance, do you get better gas mileage with the longer gears or vice versa?

Just plug in the various ratios and tire size and you'll be able to see how fast your car is going in each gear, regardless of speedo and tach inaccuracy.

I have seen about 105 at 8500 in 3rd gear. I have also seen that some people tachs/speedos are off a little bit.
