2G What is this plug?

95’ talon tsi M/T mostly stock. Found it unplugged. Lies right under intake, and is near MAF sensor. Added pictures.

That is the generator/alternator relay, but yours is missing the "cap".

It's not needed as long as the battery indicator bulb in the instrument cluster isn't burned out.

I believe if you don't have this and the dash bulb burns out, your car won't start. Something to remember

The car might start but it won't charge. The alternator relay and the bulb provide redundant current sources to power the field coil on startup.

Steve, if the dash bulb works (like "normal" cars), won't that energize the field coil? Just askin. Is that relay a "backup"?
