I found a 1996 Spyder GST for $4900. It is a 5-speed, 91,000 miles on it, white with black top, 17 inch rims. There is 80% tread left on the tires but the guy has a brand new never used set of tires for the car that is included in the price. He says the top doesn't leak, but it had a rip and was repaired, but he didn't like it, so he bought a brand new oem top that isn't installed and is included with the car. He says the interior is really nice, everything inside works, but you have to help the top up a little bit. He doesn't know if the timing belt has been replaced or not. It has a 3 inch cat back exhaust, 16G turbo, apexi intake and a greddy bov. He says it runs great and has no issues. He says he just wants to get rid of it because he doesn't drive it and its taking up space in his garage, which sounds good to me because he kept it garaged at least. he also said that the paint is good on it, no clear coat coming off, no body damage or dents. I'm going to check for crankwalk be looking at the clutch pedal when I turn left. I have been talking to the guy over the phone and I'm suppose to go drive for 4 hours to go and buy it if it checks out on Thursday. Does it sound good? Should I ask him or check for other things on it?

ok i got ca rit runs great, but when cold ideals like shit and dies inless i rev it up, hw to fix ? idle is at 1100

also has on cold start valve tap soudn ? onyl when really cold tho ?
 
A. If he traded you for your CRX, then there was seomething wrong with the talon. He just got a mint, modded, no problem car, and traded you for something that just doesn't make sense all together.
B. Theres no way he can get by saying "up to to 20psi" without coming off as a retard, or he was jsut conning you.
C. He launched the car for you, you ###### jizzed in your pants, now you get home and the cars got valve ticking and high idle?
D. The problem with someone shady like that is you never know how much they beat on the car, he launched it for you and then Power shifted into second, i mean jesus on a stock clutch.

Just take the car to your shop and start doing the proper maintenance on it, don't trust a buyers word, change oil, fluids, everyting.

Your high idle can come from TPS, IAC, BISS, pluss more. You never know, the timing could even be off.

ok well to start off he launched to show me how BAD the clutch is,

he is hoenst, as i checked everythign and its all doen rigth,

he said when it was tuend if it spikes to 18-20 its will blink up to 3 times for knock etc

but also it idles at 1100 as dsmlink is set on that but 1 tiem it was at 1,500 for soem reason.

Also during cold start it barely runs but otherwise its all good

and dont say crx as crx had over 4k intp suspension and 5k inot motor ok buddy ?

Did you miss the part where i said you traded Your mint CRX for a car that already has a tick. Im just saying "Buddy", i hope you didnt trade your supposed "10k crx" ha, for a car that wasn't worth as much, and came with problems. Do maintenance. Not sure why hed set idle to 1100, usually people even with cams try to get under 1000, but i guess thats what he wanted. Anyway, Goodluck. Try using different oil for the tick.

ps. If your grammar could slightly increase via. spellchecker, a lot more people would help you out instead of the 7 posts where people told you to use grammar, those posts could have been good info.
 
Good luck with the car. What did compression end up being? Is it a 6-bolt swapped car or a 7-bolt? I didn't see that info posted. Maybe I missed it. If it is a 7-bolt, is there any end play in the crank? That tick at idle you hear might be lifter tick. I see you're in Janesville. I've been driving through there every day lately. cp is great, and theres few small misc problems like the sound is from leakign gasket etc

hey guys, im new to here and looking to learn alot. im going to be getting a Eagle Talon, not sure what model yet. but i am going to be getting it for only $100. the thing is that it wont start they said that it sat all winter than it wouldnt start. but im thinking that itll be a rather easy fix, or if so only a hundred or two into it. so do you guys think this is a good deal? $100 for the car and maybe another 100-200$$ to fix and get running? thnaks.
 
hows the condition of the car? find out what model it is. but if its in decent shape i say go for it definatly, 200 $ is about as cheap as a car gets
 
should be worst comes to worst you can part it out and make money off it. post some pics and stuff if you can get any. Also does it turn over?
 
im going to talk to her later today once she gets to work. all i know is that its a eagle talon i wasnt told much because my dad didnt ask LOL. but as soon as i find out ill let you guys know. ive been wanting one for a while now. im sure its not a TSi, but im hoping its atleast a 5speed. if not oh well i dont care :)
 
well its a wisconsin car so im expecting some rust... but im hoping its in pretty decent condition. and my dads a master welder/fabricator so if thereas any major rust we can fix it
 
A few hundred to get it running? I highly doubt that. It's more than likely going to need a good amount or work and money to get it road worthy. But if's in decent shape, what the hell go for it
 
they said it was running but just sat all winter. and when they tried to start it it just wouldnt start. but they are not very mechanically inclined though. but either way ill get it running :p hopefully...
 
It could be a rather easy fix. If it ran before hand and now doesn't run sounds like a issue with the ecu. If its a turbo model just turn the key in the "on" postion and if the cel light doesn't come on and the boost gauge doesn't move then its more than likely the ecu. ( Make sure the battery has some juice)

If its in decent condition I say pic it up! You can always part it out for more. Hell the car is worth more in scrap weight. When I scrapped my 90 it has no trans no transfercase and no head and yielded 220. So I would go for it to say the least.
 
thanx. i dont think its the turbo model but im hoping so. i have a feeling its the battery maybe dead. or maybe the starter or something like that. they also said they had water in it over the winter though to... idk im sure ill figure it out
 
ok guys i found out more info. its either a 95 or 96. Eagle Talon ESi FWD Auto (unfortunatley). it needs a new Front wheel bearing, struts, quarter glass. and wont sart. im going to look at it 2marrow. so once i see it ill post pictures. you guys think this is a good deal??
 
im thinking about it. but if its in decent condition i figure it could be a good DD? ill post pix after i see it tomorrow. but what would be good upgrades for a auto ESi? starting ill ###### just do intake, exhaust, coilovers. what else would i be able to do for a lil more power? again if its in good condition
 
Either way, just buy the car. Transfer the title. Get a fresh battery, check all fluids, filters, and hoses, brakes, tires, and lights. Then drive it. I bet money if they are telling the truth about it running before they parked it... then it's just a battery. I highly doubt the ecu would go out by just sitting during the winter. Might need a few sensors. But it's worth the $100 all day long. I would definitely buy ANY car for $100.

Just make sure to tell them to put on the title "Gift" so you do not have to pay fee's or taxes.
