I found a 1996 Spyder GST for $4900. It is a 5-speed, 91,000 miles on it, white with black top, 17 inch rims. There is 80% tread left on the tires but the guy has a brand new never used set of tires for the car that is included in the price. He says the top doesn't leak, but it had a rip and was repaired, but he didn't like it, so he bought a brand new oem top that isn't installed and is included with the car. He says the interior is really nice, everything inside works, but you have to help the top up a little bit. He doesn't know if the timing belt has been replaced or not. It has a 3 inch cat back exhaust, 16G turbo, apexi intake and a greddy bov. He says it runs great and has no issues. He says he just wants to get rid of it because he doesn't drive it and its taking up space in his garage, which sounds good to me because he kept it garaged at least. he also said that the paint is good on it, no clear coat coming off, no body damage or dents. I'm going to check for crankwalk be looking at the clutch pedal when I turn left. I have been talking to the guy over the phone and I'm suppose to go drive for 4 hours to go and buy it if it checks out on Thursday. Does it sound good? Should I ask him or check for other things on it?

I think its high. Those seats have to go. I would be worried about what kind of hacked "mods" he did to the engine seeing how there are a lack of pic's of the engine.

Its your money though, If you like it and think its worth the money, go for it.

Find out what kind of maintenance has been done on it. That price it a little high , but not unreasonable if it is maintained well.

Yeh, but i've heard many people say, that awd's have more things to break, and stuff like that. Since this is going to be my first car you know, i always take care of cars, just don't want to have many problems with it.

Well IMO i think its a good deal. Some people say its a high price but here in my area that's not high considering most dsm's sell here for about 4k. What you need to do is check it out good, and if you're paying cash i would start offering about $2,800.

Thanks man, i might just go there and check it out sometime soon. Take a test drive and see how it goes.

Also i've seen many eclipses in my aread, but most of them have over 120k miles, and cost like 4-5k. I've recently found this one too.

Hi all;
I havend had a sporty car since my "riced" high school integra. I've grown and wouldnt go back to ricing... Want a clea ass car now! I'm in a budget as I'm married and got bills to pay... Nehow:
I have been contemplating dsms for a while now( love the look first off ) , ### my friend had 1g tsi which he fell in love with before it burned on him.. Newbie that ended up with an abused dsm...
I found this crashed 1998 gst spyder, manual, 120k all stock cept for a hks blow off valve.. Im told it ran good before the accident. It looks like it ran into a lifted truck ### off the bat the hood is the most damaged part.. ( front bumper crack, looks like it'll need a radiator and fan) guy got a $1000 dollar estimate to fix it, says he still owes 1500 on it.. He say he got it for 5500 but needs a family car... He wants 2200.. Im obviously gona try to lower that.. But i've only seen the ad og craigs... Pics look like its clean all around cept for the front.. We schedualed a meeting for one week for now as apparently we both have busy work schedules at the moment.. Any opinios are appreciated as I am undecided... What do you guys think ?? U now know about as much as i do! Im hoping 1500... Sound reasonable? Or would you just wait and save up... I would want a gsx but i'm improvising with my wife ### she likes the spyder and i like the turbo!... I got very basic experience working on my own everyday cars... Most i've done is change a clutch with a hayness manual.. Please advise

It would help if you had pics if the motor and the car. The thing about buying a car that is wrecked is you don't know the truth. They said it "runs" fine but it don't. Personally I wouldn't mess with a car that was wrecked unless your good with body and just basic work. But I wouldn't pay 2200. I can't tell you how I would pay unless I see pics.

Hey man don't do it! I seen that car on CL,it's a red spyder right? Your going to have to cut the radiator core support and there maybe frame damage! DON'T DO IT , I am also married with kids and know how hard it would be fixing this car. If you had free access to a shop and space to do this it MAY BE an option but that car may have frame damage so be very careful. I tried to buy that car for parts but he give me all the info on it. I'd pass till he parts it out

denver all for sale / wanted classifieds "Gst spyder" - craigslist

Thats the post,... I havent seen it yet till sat

A crashed or non-running DSM I will never pay more than $1000 and that is TOPS, usually try to get them around $800. Unless you have the tools and knowledge on checking sub frame damage, I suggest do not buy wrecked. Craigslist you can always find one that does not run for cheap. Take your time, spend your money wisely and do not rush into buying one. I guarantee after a week of hard Craigslist shopping you will find a phew DSMs that are not wrecked for way better of a deal.

Hey ARNIE, IF this is the guy I'm talking about he won't go lower. He still owes on this car and that is why he won't go down on the price. That's why I choose to pass on this spyder.

Save yourself the hassle and skip bro , you will find one just be patient man

YA u try using only a phone.. Ass

X2. Chill man, not all of us view via a computer with full keyboard.

2200 is a lot. I'd really check it out or bring someone who has a bit of knowledge. I always bring cash to the purchase and make the offer with a quick view of the cash. (assuming its a safe neighborhood). Money makes people hungry. Good luck and welcome!

Lol I'm not the one buying it! I have my own dsm to worry about! :dsm:
Personally I would wait for someone desperate for cash on Craigslist that sells there GS-T cheap! Then snipe it!

Working on a damage car is a hassle!

The car had a Greddy turbo " The words of the mechanic"

He says " I only parked it beacuse the clutch die and i sold the turbo"

what do u think?

I think i will offer around 6 to 7 hundred! since i have to tow it!

Receipts? Any proof? Also be like I have to buy a clutch... Turbo... Pay to get these installed... And then if I wanna move this, I have to get it towed... Already looking at 700$ ish... How about 600$ for the car... ?
