What is this car worth / Is this car a good deal?

I found a 1996 Spyder GST for $4900. It is a 5-speed, 91,000 miles on it, white with black top, 17 inch rims. There is 80% tread left on the tires but the guy has a brand new never used set of tires for the car that is included in the price. He says the top doesn't leak, but it had a rip and was repaired, but he didn't like it, so he bought a brand new oem top that isn't installed and is included with the car. He says the interior is really nice, everything inside works, but you have to help the top up a little bit. He doesn't know if the timing belt has been replaced or not. It has a 3 inch cat back exhaust, 16G turbo, apexi intake and a greddy bov. He says it runs great and has no issues. He says he just wants to get rid of it because he doesn't drive it and its taking up space in his garage, which sounds good to me because he kept it garaged at least. he also said that the paint is good on it, no clear coat coming off, no body damage or dents. I'm going to check for crankwalk be looking at the clutch pedal when I turn left. I have been talking to the guy over the phone and I'm suppose to go drive for 4 hours to go and buy it if it checks out on Thursday. Does it sound good? Should I ask him or check for other things on it?

Alright guys I got it for $4000. And not to my original knowledge, he is throwing in a 14b and a small 16g turbo with it, also DSM link. Also a manifold and the original side mount intercooler with all the pipes and 2 extra bov's. Also a 600watt amp. No sub woofers, but i got 2 10in kickers laying around. So everything s all good.

Anthing also else also? Because I also think that also 4000 is also too also much for that that also DSM. Auto also isnt as also cool as also manual. Just ASLO saying.

Glad you got it for a good deal man. So uh.... when ya wanna send me that 14b or the small 16g ? You wont need em and I could use an upgrade from my stocker. ;-) Hell I'd trade ya out my cf hood for the small 16g. Glad ya got back in a DSM man I think ya got a helluva deal. PM me if ya wanna do something on one of the extra turbos

Yeah I know I used that word a bit too much. But the only other thing was a extra fmic along with the old side mount. But for being a northern Ohio car it has virtually no rust.

looks like the airbags were replaced - the covers are grey instead of black like the rest of the dash unless it's just how the pic was taken

IMO, you could definately get that guy down in price. He has been trying to sell that gsx since about June I wanna say. Also, an Ohio car with an R-title is a bad combo. No inspection in Ohio as you already know, but I would go and check it out since its not too far from you

It's cool. I'm sure you ARE enjoying it more then the ole 95 ### this one is TURBO . I enjoy mine a HELLUVA lot more then my other 2 95s even though this one is a 95 as well but its for the simple fact of the turbo. It just isnt the same without boost man. My sons mom has a 05 G6 gt that I drive almost everyday ### of my car being down right now and even with it being V6 it doesn't feed my fix for boost . I'll be up and running again soon and can't wait. Enjoy what ya have man if ya need anything else you can pm me or just throw up another post. NOW START MODDING THAT BEAST!!!!

Yeah had my uncle come along, he was a mechanic. But the car was fixed 100% there are no existing problems with it. and i got it for $4000 with a bunch of extra parts. without the parts he would have taken 3500. But he had dsm link and a practically new small 16g turbo.

Sorry. Leaky water pump says it all. If he can't fix a leaky water pump whose to say he hasn't properly built/maintained the engine. Besides, over on the east side craigslist offers (what appears to be) a better build for the same price: 1991 Eagle Talon

one guy on CL has a built stroker running 500 hp on 550 inj and a 16 g!
but is running on 3 cyl.. and will sell it for 2500$

not a bad mod list, but as the others said if he cant fix a water pump who's to say the car is maintained, pretty much a gamble imo.

No proof of mods isn't good. Listed as having a new water pump, yet it is leaking. Buy it for what ever amount you think you can get by parting it out.

That price is rediculous. No freakin way. Tell him to tear the motor apart for proof that its built.

^^ The tbelt and all will have to come off, so you will be able to find out very soon whether it does or does not have what he claims. I suggest you get him in writing that it has those parts with a signed signature and drivers license info and what not.

And so when you go to tear apart the head to replace the water pump, if it doesnt, take him to small claims based on fraud.

Be upfront with him about it, and tell him that if it doesnt you will take him to court. You will need some "contract" signed, and try and have a witness with you for the agreement and signature as well.

If he backs out once you tell him this then he is most likely lying about the car.

It looks clean but for 4300...not worth it for a 1g. You'll never be able to get that back either if you had to resell for some reason.

all the newbie i know say this. The blew up the cars i sold them. i rebuilt the motor, so it had 50 miles on it. He planed to go strocker right after he bought the car. he overheated it and turned up the boost and blew the head gasket. Later he tried to do a timing belt twice. He bent all the valve twice, the 2nd time broke a cam shaft.
