I found a 1996 Spyder GST for $4900. It is a 5-speed, 91,000 miles on it, white with black top, 17 inch rims. There is 80% tread left on the tires but the guy has a brand new never used set of tires for the car that is included in the price. He says the top doesn't leak, but it had a rip and was repaired, but he didn't like it, so he bought a brand new oem top that isn't installed and is included with the car. He says the interior is really nice, everything inside works, but you have to help the top up a little bit. He doesn't know if the timing belt has been replaced or not. It has a 3 inch cat back exhaust, 16G turbo, apexi intake and a greddy bov. He says it runs great and has no issues. He says he just wants to get rid of it because he doesn't drive it and its taking up space in his garage, which sounds good to me because he kept it garaged at least. he also said that the paint is good on it, no clear coat coming off, no body damage or dents. I'm going to check for crankwalk be looking at the clutch pedal when I turn left. I have been talking to the guy over the phone and I'm suppose to go drive for 4 hours to go and buy it if it checks out on Thursday. Does it sound good? Should I ask him or check for other things on it?

I think its a bit much for a rebuilt/salvage title imo. Is it in the same state as you are? If not I would check with my local dmv tag office to make sure you wont have any issues getting a tag for it.

Yeah its in the same state, about a hour away. And my dads truck has a rebuilt title and has never has a problem with the dmv. In your opinion or anyone else. what would be a price to try to get him to lower it too?

Doesn't salvage/rebuilt title mess with insurance? Like make it more expensive or anything? Personally, I would give him $4000 for it, maybe $4500...Or if i actually wanted auto and everything else looked good, I might give him $5000 if it didn't adjust my insurance payments

The car looks clean but why does it have a rebuilt title? I dunno about 5K for it.

Well I have Allstate and we called our insurance agent and she said that they will fully cover the car. And it would be around the same price as my gs was.

It got hit in the driver side door back in 2001.

I personally would not pay 5k for that, you can get a 2gb awd with lots of mods for that price. And with a clean title.

Id offer the guy no more then 3500-4k I mean after all it's an auto LOL. Doesn't seem like to bad of a deal considering the upgrades and stuff and only 83k on the clock. The only other downside I see is that it's an ohio car and lets face it they are prone to mad rust but that doesn't seem to be a problem with this one from what I see. May sound crazy but I'd go with the 90 tsi and try to get it for a decent low price. Take the extra and try to find a 2g gsx in need of a motor and swap the 6 bolt into it then you could part the rest of it out and buy upgrades LOL but that's just me. Good luck

Offer him like $1000. Plus because its prior-salvage its going to mess with your insurance.

Yeah I'm going to try to lower the price. And there is no rust on it. He has kept it garage kept in the winter. The only problem with the 90 tsi is that its fwd. I honestly need a car quick, haha. I don't know how to drive stick either, don't make fun, LOL.

Awwww man you REALLY owe it to yourself to learn it. it's honestly not that hard to DRIVE one its the taking off and remembering that you have to push the clutch in while your stopped that's the hard part LOL. Yea I know that the tsi is fwd but whys that a problem other then the fact that AWD is so much better (IMO) I have lived close to Ohio before in Ripley,WV and driving a fwd wasn't that bad even in the winter, of course it was an auto though and it was a sunfire that my sons mom had and not a turbo dsm LOL. I guess its time to pick your poison LOL. Good luck but don't pay over 4k man seriously.

I know I need to learn it, LOL. And yeah im going to offer 4000. And if he doesn't take it ill go for the tsi. I just want a dsm again, i miss my 95 even if it was a gs and kind of ricey "reason i sold it, haha"

No don't offer 4k at first always start low and work your way up to your highest offer but don't go over that and cut your own throat. I personally like body kits as long as they are done RIGHT and not half assed when being put on such as it being held on by just drywall screws and shit like that. Yea mine has been down for a lil while now and I'M GOING NUTS LOL. Anyways man good luck with either one ya get but id favor the 90 a lil more foe the 6bolt versus the newer car with the 7 in it. It lyes in your hands my friend choose wisely LOL

Ok my personal opinion automatics r no fun. AWD is nice wish I had one LOL, but I picked mine up for under 5 and its an 11 second car 1991 talon tsi w/out a salage title or ne damage fresh paint also. So 5k is way to high for that car. As for insurance and dmv no a salvage title doesnt mean shit its easy to register. Personally I think it would be cheaper to buy one stock and build it. Just my 2 cents, but its your money and possibly your car so go with your gut.

you paid under 5 for a car that is 19 years old....this car is 7 years newer.

Alright guys I got it for $4000. And not to my original knowledge, he is throwing in a 14b and a small 16g turbo with it, also DSM link. Also a manifold and the original side mount intercooler with all the pipes and 2 extra bov's. Also a 600watt amp. No sub woofers, but i got 2 10in kickers laying around. So everything s all good. :thumb:

I prefer auto when driving a turbo. People say it's less fun, but you can shift through the gears without loosing boost to a closed throttle plate.

I hope you did the magnet test on that passanger side, and I hope you checked under the door sil panel and under the side skirt to make sure it was repaired right. And I hope you checked all of the tires for odd wear patterns to give you an idea if it's tweeked after the accident.

I just dont like the way Autos sound with an Exhaust. WWWWWwwwwwwoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

I guess it could be worse...Could be WWD!! OMG OMG OMG

Im not a fan of auto, and rebuilt titles scare some people but I'm fine with them. Happy that you got your hands on another dsm bro!

you can't shift through the gears in an automatic. it does it for you.

and if you know how to drive, you don't lose boost in a manual tranny. it's called not lifting to shift. :thumb:

Glad you got it for a good deal man. So uh.... when ya wanna send me that 14b or the small 16g LOL? You wont need em and I could use an upgrade from my stocker. ;-) Hell I'd trade ya out my cf hood for the small 16g. Glad ya got back in a DSM man I think ya got a helluva deal. PM me if ya wanna do something on one of the extra turbos :D
