what is the transmission made of?

is it made of aluminum? i got a crack on the 5th gear cover. i think i pushed the output shaft though too hard, and i wanted to weld it. now i just have a mig welder, and i know that doesnt work on aluminum.

Yes, it's aluminum. At least it's not too hard or expensive to find another cover.

yea, its an easy item to fix, im just kinda mad that i wasted a quart and a half of 10 dollar/quart of tranny fluid! will a cover from a 1g work?

A cover from a 1g will fit, CAPS lists the same part number for the 1g and 2g.
