Hello community, I am planning on running 20 psi on the hahn portfueler system. Look at my profile to get a good idea. I have a built engine and I was wondering what ignition box to control spark timing I should get? Also Hahn talks in ridles(doesnt tell me the price) and I was wondering how much would the stage five fuel system would be? Just the fuel management system? Anyways thanks community and what would be a good rev limiter to bring up the redline rpm? Thanks guys for being very supportive. Soon enough I will start the rebuild blog. Parts are in boxes now I got everthing on my profile except for the Portfueler.

Looks like you scared everyone off with all your fancy big words!

IMHO, I wouldn't use PF for such high boost goals. I don't recommend PF at all because you can spend less and get better tuning options out of MegaSquirt. Granted, PF is more user-friendly, but it's really only tricking the crap out of your ecu to be able to run boost. The way I see it, MS is a stand-alone that allows for full control of every parameter.

There's a right way to do things and then there's...... If you're going to dump all the money into a fuel setup like that, your ecu should be using it properly, not being tricked into working enough to get by. The stock ecu spark tables are only going to be so good for higher boost with PF.

^This. However, Id also look to see if AEM makes an FIC unit for your car. A friend of mine got one for his car, which isnt a DSM, but its the best piggy back Ive ever seen and it gives you full timing control, the ability to use much larger injectors, custom fuel maps, and its far superior to the Port Fueler. FYI, the FIC units are basically just pre assembled Megasquirt units bundled with software.

MS is the best option out there for stand alone systems, we don't have a ton of options. I would like to throw out there that maybe the OP lives in an area where emission testing is done through the OBD2 and thats why he wants to stick with PF. I'm going back and forth on this issue to. I could build a harness to go back to stock ecu but it's going to be a PITA. Not to thread jack but has anyone dealt with this and has a system that works well?
To OP: I heard that the price has been coming down on the PF's so maybe they are still working on their pricing structure. Anyhow people have said in the past that they are a little flexible on the price so make an offer to them. How are they speaking in riddles?

When i lived in cali, (Emission nazi's) i ran a PF system. The part i failed on was visual inspection. If you want to stay legal, go with PF. but like mentioned.. i would get it the 20 PSI outa my head.. b/c , again, MS is really the way to go to make power. You can get an MSD DIS to run with your PF for timing, but the MS is a cleaner solution to all of this..

I always d-turbo'd and then id pass no prob. PFs ar going for 400-500 bux. stg 4 and 5 have larger injectors, 5, is 550s i believe?

IF I were youd, id go with the PF, and run 15-16 PSI on a S20g

OR do like i did, and move LOL.. emission checks FTL.
AEM FIC, is kool, but not really friendly to 420a platform, lack of ppl using it, so you would be in untested/un supported waters.. not a great place to be.

Actually, you can use the MSnS as a piggy back and retain the stock ECU. This way its relatively easy to switch back for emissions.

Provided you don't have a "Cali" style visual inspection.

There's a universal FIC that some of the Neon guys use. I'm sure it would work for the 420A DSM too, but...

...this is a dubious statement, at best. MegaSquirt EMS has far more options and features than the FIC - MS is a bona fide engine management system, not a piggyback. Fully assembled MS2 MegaSquirt systems don't cost much more than an FIC, but you have much more power and flexibility.

That's a great option, but it's just called "MS"... :p
