what do i need to know

HI there i am new to dsm's i just recently purchased a 1996 eagle talon tsi awd.

and was wondering what are some important things i need to know and aslo

what are the best moderate but great horsepower adders for these cars. I know

that a better intercooler would be a hp adder but not sure what else? i want to

acheive about 260 and up hp at the wheels. also wanted know if their were some

secret power adders from other 4g63 cars that might bump my power. so tell

me what you guys think, that would be great thanks.

First off, an intercooler won't benefit you any (will also NEVER add horsepower), in near stock form you will actually lose performance because of the pressure drop across it.

This is a good list, but if you're just looking to make 260 you won't need an FMIC. Also if you do choose to get DSMLink, which I would suggest, get the biggest injectors you can. Also look at the tech guide it's great help.

Considering you have a 2g I would purchase a FP BT-28 so you don't need to purchase an install kit for these other Turbo's: 14b, 16g, evo3 16g & it also looks completely stock.

^^^ I am assuming the OP is on a budget and the FP BT-28 is very pricey at $832.00. My opinion not worth it when you can buy a Evo316G for $499 plus $175.00 for the install kit. $675 total for a turbo combination that shits all over the T-28. of course a 16g or a 14b can be had for cheaper but to each his own.

But both the 16g & the 14b have more lag than the FP BT-28 that's for sure.

all stated parts are necessary for more horsepower, but a good timing tune with V3 will make your goal so much easier to achieve.

Maintenance first very good point if you want a little hp for free cut your ac belt, you can take it out to shave a little weight along with the space tire in the trunk.

id get a 14b, ported everything, 550s and mbc, catback,

a intercooler wont add power. if its too big then you can loose power. you should do the maitence first. like timing and pullys waterpump. but after that you can get a catback, 550 , 14b ported mani

like others, i'd suggest MAINTENANCE first or else your car won't be going anywhere haha, timing belt, water pump, all fluids etc. then exhaust, hard IC piping and a 14b or 16g with link and injectors and such

Maintenance is a must on these cars. Turbo wise you could make that much power even on a s16g.
