I am lost. I have a 97 gst. From 2 grand till 3 grand it loses all the power just falls flat on its face. The wideband bottoms out at 10 and my guess is its running richer than that. I have no clue what to do anymore and don't have the kind of money where I can take it to a shop and just tell them to fix it. The car has a greddy blowoff valve, greddy profec type s boost controller, safc2, aem wide band setup, pte5857 turbo. Any suggestions on what I can do where I can possibly take it? Willing to here everyone out on this... please help!

No I haven't don't a boost leak test. I don't have the proper tool for that. But it does have all new couplers when I bought the turbo last week. But I do plan on doing that just to double check.

well i did the boost leak test and it seems to be fine there were no leaks anywhere... now what is there to check?

pretty sure it is. i even went in and took away 20% fuel and it still running way too rich. the bov is recirculated and it looks like everything is set up right.

exhaust leaks will mess with your readings, or you may need to reset your wideband. I had to once cause it was reading funny.

There's no exhaust leaks everything is solid and bolted on. And how do I reset my wideband? Another thing is my oil pressure seems tobe running higher than normal. My gauge is reading around 25 at idle and it creeps up to 80 to 100psi at 5 grand. Im not driving the car now, just want to get my dsm on the road again :banghead:

How many psi did it hold and for how long when you did the boost leak test. I find it hard to believe that you didn't have one single leak anywhere the very first time testing it.

Ill try again tomorrow. But it looked to be holding 5 psi for bout 4 or 5 minutes it was nothing major. Ill give it another shot tomorrow and let you all know how it goes again.

Check your knock sensor for "goo" around it. If its bad it could be pulling timing real bad. The ecu might be adding more fuel because of this as well. Maybe that's why when you pulled fuel from the afc it had no effect.

5 psi is not enough pressure, take it up to 20+ if you want to find the leak.

ok i will take it up to 20 psi today then, made the tool with a pvc cap a coupler and a tire valve... so hopefully that will find the leak

ok, redid the boost leak, found that one of my couplers were leaking at the intercooler, my bov was leaking also, also another spot was the fuel pressure regulator at the fuel rail had a small leak also, should the fuel regulator be leaking? and how do i go about fixing it? it is a newer aftermarket regulator that has a bolt in the middle that sit against the valve cover.

??? how did you do the blt im close to you i can come help you do one properly this weekend. how did you make your tester?

I used a 2 inch pvc pipe cap with a 3inch to 2.5 in coupler, drilled a hole in the end of the cap and put a tire stem in the middle of it with some rtv around it.

and pm me about coming this weekend.

Well thanks for all the help. Fixed all the boost leaks hold 20 psi for bout 20 minutes and dropped down to 5 where that stayed for bout an hour. Still same problem. Knock sensor is fine. About had it with this problem. Probably taking it to scrap yard next week or so. Ran out of money and time for this car.

Now that youve got boost leaks out of the way- What injectors are you running? What are the settings on the safc- Hi/Lo throttle points and where is the safc set across the board to compensate for your injectors? Where is your base fuel pressure set with the vacuum line off of the regulator?

Running 550 injectors.low throttle set at 30 and high is at 80 right now just have 0 across the board on safc had 20 percent taken away but that wasn't working fuel pressure is at 42 pounds.

Just so frustrated right now. Been trying to fix this for a year now... get into to something just to find another problem with it. Dont plan on scraping just annoyed with it right now... :beatentodeath:

30 and 80 are good for the throttle points. Your high and low settings should be around -18 for 550cc injectors to get the factory fuel maps to line up. One thing is, the factory fuel maps are very rich, around 9.x:1 AFR at wide open throttle, so if your wideband only reads to 10:1 on the low end, thats where your trouble is there. Just so we are clear, when you checked your fuel pressure, you had the vacuum line DISCONNECTED from the fuel pressure regulator, correct? Also, your base fuel pressure needs to be set at 43.5 psi, not 42. Do you have a logger? How much boost are you running? You need to have a logger to do any kind of tuning, and I want to see what your high and low fuel trims are. If you have a logger, you can adujst the low throttle settings on the safc until you get your low fuel trim as close to perfect as you can, then set your boost to say, 16psi or so, do a wide open pull in 3rd gear and look to see if timing is being pulled, and if timing isnt being pulled because of knock, you can lean the high throttle settings on the safc to around -29, -30, and this should lean out the afr at wide open throttle to around 11:1 on 550cc injectors.

Well this helps out. I don not have a logger for my car. Any recomendations for a logger? And what all do I need for it? And yes the vacuum line was disconected. Only problem is when it is connected there is a leak at the regulator not sure if that is normal or not. The set screw is bout half way in... not sure if I unscrew or screw it in if it goes away... and what could cause higgh oil pressure when im in neutral the oil pressure sits at 25 psi and raises as rpm goes up and peaks out around 90. Seems kind of high to me. Not sure what would cause this. My pcv is good. Any ideas on this problem and all the testing I do is in my drive way. Don't know if that affects anything or not. It seems after I get past the 3 grand mark also my a/f ration comes back to 11 or 12 at around 4 n 5 k
