Ok so my 20g turbo blew and I have a gt35 turbo way bigger, I know I need a new manifold waste gate and down pipe my thing is what do I have to with the air flow sensor. I would appreciate the help.

How did you blow the 20g?

You should not have to mess with the air flow sensor. If you aren’t already on an upgraded MAF or Speed Density you have to recirculate the extra boost. Speed Density is highly recommended.

You likely need bigger injectors and a fuel pump to support your new turbo as well. If you fill out a vehicle profile we can assume less and give better advice that way.

Assuming you have a way to tune also ECM Link?
 
Your sign up says your car is stock but the picture says otherwise. Please fill out a profile. If you're running turbos this size with no other mods you are headed for trouble. Even a 20g you shouldn't have been able to boost very far without fuel cut or damage. Are you sure the car is stock? How long have you had it?

Yeah it was boost cutting with the 20g the picture is the turbo imma install I had it for 4 months but the picture is the turbo imma install

I was running a Honda and it felt like the car didn’t wanna go no more so I pulled to the side of the high way and called my brother in law to come help me and he said that the turbo was blown. And no I didn’t mess with air flow sensor. And no sadly I don’t have a ECM Link and I don’t really know any tuners that tune DSMs I’m from South Carolina so I doubt there’s any as well
 
So you have no objective data to support that the turbo is blown? Is he a mechanic? Whatever happens the fact remains if you continue to bolt on larger turbos with no supporting mods you will blow more than a turbo. There simply isn't enough fuel available for that kind of airflow. And you do not modify a mass air sensor generally. You will need larger injectors and something to control them. When people say " tune" the car the first part of that is typically scaling larger injectors. You have lots to do.

Slapping a bigger setup on your car is not going to yield positive results. Go do some reading on the FAQs in these forums there is a ton of useful information for free that you should understand before you go bolting on mods.

And for the mas airflow sensor I seen that they delete it for something else also some dude told me that they delete it to switch it to a map. I’m also 16 still in school and I got a job so I needed the car that’s my only transportation but for now imma let it sit until I get the right parts.

You really should re evaluate them though - you can not make power without the supporting mods and if you are in high school going to work you won't be making a ton of money to afford them either, especially if you lose your job cause you don't have reliable transportation LOL.

I recommend finding a stock turbo setup and running the car how it is intended from the factory for your own sake.

Save up the money for ECM Link first so the car can be tuned. You can even turn up the boost on a stock turbo and squeeze a tiny bit more power out of them.

Just about any turbocharger other than stock you need supporting mods. Take the advice of the above posts. I would not bolt on anything larger than stock at this point. You clearly have some research to do first. Being on a budget is also hard. Just some of the install hardware can get expensive, relatively. For example just the bolt kit to install a turbo is more than 80$. This stuff is NOT just off the shelf hardware from home depot.
 
There are td05 20g’s out there with the 14b/16g cover that are true “bolt on” turbo’s, however the stock ecu and fuel system can only support wastegate pressure (10-12ish psi) on that turbo which isn’t even in its efficiency range, which to me makes it boring compared to the stock t25 or a 14b off of a 1g. There’s a chance the car had ecmlink on it, but what I’m guessing is someone slapped some $250 Chinese td05 20g on it as the ad on eBay or Amazon said it “bolts right on!!” and didn’t do any supporting mods. Either way if it’s toast and you’re still learning and don’t have a lot of funds, I’d look into a 14b off of a 1g as that would bolt right in place of your 20g or even a real MHI evo 3 16g at wastegate pressure would be acceptable with the luxury of being able to turn it up once you get the supporting stuff for it and make the car a whole new animal, all while having a reliable turbocharger.

With that being said, that $130 ching chong maxpeedingrodz “gt3582” is NOT a reliable turbocharger. I’ll be the first to say on here for $130 bucks shipped to your door they’re definitely worth it for the fun and will make some pretty decent power turned up, but these are better suited for the guys who are doing a throw together shitbox build and are well aware of what can happen and the fact they can be junk right out of the box, not for the crowd that’s just learning and looking for reliability. You’d be doing a lot of changing stuff around and fabbing stuff up just to try to use a $130 piece of junk vs buying something reliable for 300 bucks that bolts right on. My advice is post it up for sale for $70-$80 bucks picked up and pass it off to the first clapped out Honda guy that’s excited about it and put the money towards a known good and reliable replacement. Then once that’s corrected, do your research on here and MAINTENANCE MAINTENANCE MAINTENANCE before turning anything up and beating the crap out of it.

And not to negate you Paul, but when bolting on a t3 set up we don’t get much choice but high grade hardware store stuff. Shoot my Morrison fab kit came with the same stuff they sell at Rural King (and an explanation as to why they include that and not stainless stuff which for whatever reason dsm folks can’t comprehend why stainless in hot parts is bad so for some that’s much needed), but you are correct the proper hardware for true bolt on stuff will indeed run about $80. But anywho, worrying about t3 stuff is well beyond the OP at the moment, needs to learn the basics before getting into all that.
 
Just gonna repeat what everyone said, but in simpler terms.


Put the car back to stock. Turbo, injectors, etc. You can keep the exhaust, intercooler, and stuff that doesn't effect boost, but put it back to stock.


From there you'll still have a reliable(but fun!) car, that will take care of you until you get older and make some more money. Once you have more money to buy quality parts, you can do more research and upgrade the car slowly. Stop trying to keep up/race with other people, unless it's just for fun. There will always...always be someone faster. Bigger. Better. Just enjoy the ride.


You'll save so much time, money, energy, and mental health the sooner you learn that. A simple fully supported 16G setup is a deadly combo on the streets against much faster cars "on paper", and it's reliable AF. Mine would do cross country trips and get 30mpg...in an auto too!


Sell the GT35R. Even if it wasn't a ching-chong special, it's a horrible street turbo. Ignore the videos you see on TikTok and Youtube where everyone needs 1000hp and a massive turbo. There's a reason why everyone you know who goes for those setups, end up selling the car before it's done(or shortly after it's done) because racecar shit on the street, SUCKS.
 
One of the quickest street dsm’s here in shootout country is still running a j pipe turbo, a front wheel drive auto car at that, until this year was daily driven in the salt free months, embarrassed the living crap out of pretty potent muscle cars on the weekends (from a dig most of the time), and had quicker time slips than 75% of the big turbo dsm’s in the area and that’s saying a lot because being close to Buschur we’ve always had most likely the most “built” dsm’s in any area at any given time. While we have a good handful of fast big turbo guys in the area, they all learned the same way. The other 75% I speak of the cars always broke or never makes a good pass. To reiterate what Cracked said, start with the basics.

A moderator here on the forums @JusMX141 builds them better than new at a beyond fair price. Good used ones pop up on the classifieds here in the $300ish range.
