What did you do to your DSM today?

went out and had a last heart to heart with it...i just ended a relationship with the [ex] girlfriend...and looks like its gonna be hers.

(we bought it 50/50 to fix it up...put it in her name for time being...and shes gonna be a punk and not let me have it. FMLLLL.)

You could remind her of how much you put into the car and that she would have to continue putting that much into the car and get her to give/trade/sell you it.

HA, exactly, im doing this tonight. this car was bought "to be her winter driver" but really...was because it was suucchhh a grreattt deal mainly,

for it to handle the snow, or even be daily driven..its going to need new brakes, rotors, a new clutch, inspected (which means clearing the CEL and anti lock lights...) and some good maintenance due to it sitting for 18 months. And on top of that, there is NO way she will be able to handle a turbo manual car in the snow.

You could remind her of how much you put into the car and that she would have to continue putting that much into the car and get her to give/trade/sell you it.

we only have about 500-600 each into it...only paid 900 for it. Im trying to talk her into going 50/50 on a 97 RS my buddy has (also only $900, )...its auto, looks grea for a daily driver, and will be sooo much better to handle in the snow...(And if it ends up in a ditch, wrapped around a pole, or hit by other drivers...its only an RS-not a beautiful TSi)


either way, i offered-
1)She pay me what ive put into it
2)i pay her what she put into it, and maybe even more if needed.
3)i help her get something she can actually handle on her own
4)We sell it, split profit, and i buy another for myself. like i said, i only have about 600 into this...and book on the car is 3000. i think 2200-2500 would be EASY to sell it for.

Pulled the engine back out.
Redid Timing belt.
Switched my Knock Sensor for a Known Working one.
Inspected my valves.
Installed my new DSMLink ecu.
Routed my Wideband O2 gauge wires and tapped them off the ecu ground, pwr, egr input
Installed WBO2 gauge into holder, waiting on boost gauge to get here and gonna seal it up.
Worked on my Custom Hard UICP a bit.

Been working since 8am this morning. 8hrs at work, and 6 on my car... fookin tired.

I changed the injectors out then finished the suspension only to find my used trans has no first gear.....FML

That sucks, I dont envy you people that live in the snow. Ive seen some DSMs that you cant even drive because they've been rotted so bad... really sucks seeing that.

Me too but it's the joys of snow or in my case being surrounded by the Atlantic ocean.
I've seen far worse then my car though.

I'm going to rewrap my dash harness in a bit so I can test my S2000 cluster in the car.

I live 35 miles from the Pacific, difference is, I dont have to deal with the snow. But If I want snow. Its 110 miles in the other direction. Best of both worlds. No rusty cars and snow on one side, beach on the other.

well... i painted the valve cover and radiator brackets... bought a new hose for the pcv valve. looked at the box of intercooler things. got as far as taking the big black heavy thing (bumper, impact beam, whatever you wish to call it) off the front and said to hell with it i'll do it another day

jizzed in the gas tank to add some octane, un-recirculated my blow off valve for cool noises, and hit WOT for roughly 20 minutes ^_^

Haven't driven the Laser in a few weeks, but I decided to teach my g/f how to drive a manual in it today. It started off okay, until she started complaining that it wasn't working and it's too much work. Convinced she was just stuck in the first learning phase, I urged her on.

She got fed up soon after and when I took over, the clutch was squishy and no longer working.

I guess the Laser's going to sit for a few more weeks again.

For the first time in a long time I had a long open stretch of road with a speed limit of 75... I was at 30, so I WOT'd the car. Haven't been able to do this for a while, and as I just fixed my Pre-Exhaust leak I wanted to see the difference in the car's response and power.

GOD I was delighted because it pulls like a mule now. The ONLY thing I find weird.. is that there's a weird whistling noise from somewhere in my center console now. D:
