What cable to use for flashing evo 8 ecu

Ok so I am considering picking up an evo 8 ecu from a friend with a patch harness for my 2g. My question is do I need to buy the expensive tactrix cable or can I use my evoscan cable to flash the ecu.

you'll have to use at least the openport 1.3. the 2.0 is more for the 98-99 eclipse ecu's. The $15 vga cable off ebay is just for logging. I'm pretty sure it doesn't have writing capabilities.

U need the openport 1.3 or 2.0 cables, your logging cable probably isn't either of these.

If your cable is an openport (tactrix) 1.3 or 2.0 cable, then yes.

The 1.3R makes you use Evoscan for the flashing too. The 1.3U includes the license key that lets it work with the ECUFlash software.
