I was just wondering if the Tactrix Openport was needed to flash the ECU or if just a OBD2 USB cord hooked to a computer would work to flash the ECU.

Also can I flash the ECU to make the check engine light for the evap and egr turn off permanently?

Also correct me if I am wrong, but flashing an ECU is like reprogramming it?

1.yes the cable is required, if you have a plain obd2 reader and evoscan you can only read codes.

2. yes you can

3. sort of, your just flashing the memory, your ecu hardware isnt effected at all so I just look at it as tweaking.
