Winnipeg,
I guess pocket logger is gone now, what is the next best thing? Other than finding a used pocket logger that is.

Thanks

It depends on what year the car is. For 98-99 cars it is Evoscan hands down. For most 97 cars Evoscan is also the way to go but some 97 ecus don't log as quickly with evoscan (they are a bastard year). 95-96 cars can use evoscan but the logging rates are slow. I'm not sure what to use for 95-96 cars.

Ceddy has also written a beta program called MHIscan which you can find here on the forums. It isn't a finished product at this point but it seems to work as a basic logger quite well at high rates.

So I would buy these 2 and use a laptop to log? Can a plam be used for this setup?

I found these on limitless.co.nz

Yes, limitless.co.nz is where you buy it from. It will take a while for the cable to get to you because it has to cross half the world but evoscan is a solid product.

Ceddy's software is maturing rapidly but at this point IMO it isn't what I need. If you are only looking for basic logger functions then Ceddy's program is probably all you need and the price is certainly right. Plus he is in active development so I would imagine that you'll get new features rapidly.

BTW if you purchase the evoscan cable and decide later that you only need Ceddy's program and the cheaper cable you can sell the evoscan cable to evo owners for nearly full price. You can also use the evoscan cable to flash evos or your car if you were to switch to an evo8 ecu.

MHI scan. Ceddy program. I got my cable and gonna mess with it tomorrow

Ebay. Get a Vag Com KKL cable. It's a USB with the FTDI chip. I have one and it works great, it looks nice and was only 14 bucks shipped. There is no need to buy the cable from Evoscan unless you're reflashing, and that has not been figured out yet on the 98-99 ECU's and isn't possible on the older ones.

So those cables work fine then?

I could have sworn I read somewhere that they did not work but if people are using them than they must work LOL.

So I could just get me one of these and use mmcd then right?

So mmcd won't work?

Or maybe I mis understood something, its possible

I noticed the Vag Com KKL cable's on ebay are all usb, so if I get a usb palm I should be good right?

I defenently want to log with a palm.

So what I think I'm going to do is buy a 409.1 vag-com cable off ebay and try Ceddy's mhiscan. I like the idea of logging knock on a 2g.

Thanks for the help everyone :thumb:
