Were the heck do I find a 2G AWD 5 speed tranny?

So I am looking at getting a 2G Talon, it has a bad front diff. I am looking for a new, but good used tranny, but I cant find one. I have only been looking for like 2 hours online and dont have ebay access as of now. (government comp) Not really looking to go the ebay route anyway.

Also can you just replace the front diff? Or would it be better to get a used tranny? Its for a daily driver, so I wont be banging on it, or moding the engine etc.

Here is what the seller said about it.


" recently i found out the front differential is bad. where my cv shaft goes in to the trasmission, its bored out so the sir-clip will not hold the cv shaft in tightly like it should. so technically the transmission is bad because the differential is part of the transmisson."

I have searched on here with no luck.

I would suggest browsing Craigslist or checking our Classifieds. You can also check with our Supporting Vendors, I know some of them might sell used trannys:

Check with ShepTrans and JacksTransmissions - they both specialize in DSM transmission rebuilds and might have one on hand. I'd also check KarKing.

Thanks guys, I found one from Tiger for $500 shipped. It will work for me. Are all JDM 4g AWD turbo trannys/diffs 23 spline?? Sorry for the noob questions, I am not a DSM or a AWD guy at all. I do FR..But am excited to see what these cars can do.
Man the tarnnys seem to go on these cars allot!!

Also since he said just the front diff is bad, would it be a good idea to just replace the diff? If so were to find one? Is it that easy to just swap the diffs? Or is it more than meets the eye?

I do alot of transmission work on the w5m33(awd dsm) It requires solder crushing and shimming and measuring alot.

The JDM tranny is not a direct replacement for the 2g. Some will work with a 1g but for the 2g, the final drive ratio is different and you would have to chage the rear diff too but I have never heard of anyone actually doing it in a 2g?

my m8s selling a rebuilt 2g AWD tranny for like $1200 he might go less i think it only has probly about 1k miles on it sence the rebuild.
