so have you tested it out yet?
where is the smic?

under the fuse box on the driver side. yes ive been boosting since thursday, but today was the first day with no little problems, i got all the kinks out

Good job Chris.......quick question maybe u or someone else could help me out.

Is there a break in period or a proper way your supposed to introduce boost to our 420's?

It's not completely clear in the article, did you start off of a stage I from Hahn or Star? Or is this going all the way from N/A to stage II? Also what internals did you have installed already and what did you install along with the turbo kit?

Other than that, good write up :thumb: Really gets me thinking since it is under $1000.

no theres no type of break in period that i know of. the most i did was i disengaged the spark and cranked it over a couple times(read it helps prime the turbo but im not sure if it actually did anything.

great article! So are you still boosting at 4 psi with the intercooler installed? Any chance of a dyno run in the future? I am curious to see what the t3 turbo puts down. :thumb:

yes, the intercooler is bolted on the car but isnt connected yet, i still have to make piping. once i get the piping, the profec will crank the boost up(and by crank that means 3-4 psi LOL)

Chris why only 4 lb's w/ the smic? The fuel system sounds like it can hold a couple more lb's :thumb:

you tard thats 3-4psi MORE than what im running... which means 7-8 psi

dude that is really neat, great write up. it helps alot...you got me re thinking my turbo idea of course LOL..i went this afternoon and bought back my 1g bov from my friend haha..

cool work

that is the most ghetto charge pipe i have ever seen!!!!!! that makes it cool as shit. have you melted the soft rubber 90 from the turbo yet? looks cool man. wish i had a motor in mine right now.

haha i just blew that elbow right before i got home. it ripped right where the clamp holds it to the turbo. LOL oh well gotta buy a new one LOL

i went to auto zone and went through there radiator hoses. i found a hose with a 2 inch 90 degree bend. it worked long enough for me to blow up my motor.

haha well i had shaved the inside of the elbow with an exacto knite to fit over the turbo and it ripped on the thin part. i dunno why i did that tho. i remember originally that the thing wouldnt fit over the turbo without shaving it, but i bought new ones and they fit fine without shaving it so i should be fine. for a little while at least LOL

Hey GSGoinFast, do you have any pics to post on how you made your DP or some pics of your down pipe now. THanks for the help.

ive been planning to take it off and paint it with hi temp paint to prevent it from rusting, so ill take some pics of it then. just gotta ground down the welds first :coy:

I am building my own kit as well( thanks to your inspiring write up). I have bought almost all of the parts and am slowly waiting for them to trickle in. All I have left to buy is the intercooler, Make the DP, and the small bolt and nuts, the oil kit, and piping, and some hoses. My car was made in FEB 96 do ya'll think I would need the missing link or not. I am guessing I would to be on the safe side. Thanks for your help.

is your stock fpr on the fuel rail or back by the tank? if its on the rail you probably wont need one, but you could just to be safe.

guys, buy some real silicone elbows for the turbo outlet, im on my 4th one already LOL they keep blowing out

Good write up, and a good price. Good job on making the kit and installing it. When's the intercooler going on? I can't say that the wastegate mod with all those washers is a great idea, but if it works, it works right?..

Thanks man. Intercooler pipes will go on when i find somewhere to get 2" mandrel u bends. anyone know where? well the wastegate mod is crude but it works, lowered the boost the wastegate opens at by about 3-4
