I got the engine out of this 1995 GS earlier tonight and started getting into it to find what cylinder was knocking.

(If I remember right, the side of the motor with the front drive accessories is #4 and 3,2,1 towards the driver side?)

With that said cylinder 3's bearing is toast and after keeping track of which cap went where I started trying to get the main caps off, only to find... it has a girdle so all the caps and bottom end of the motor is one solid piece!! I honestly have to say I haven't seen this before, and am not sure the proper way to get it off or put it back together. I was hoping someone could clue me into a good write up on how to properly rebuild the bottom end of this beast.

Again I appreciate any response and thank everyone for glancing at this post

Awesome info, I got to the bottom end of this thing and knew I shouldn't go any further until I had some guidelines.

Thank you for the quick response

That is an excellent article, if only someone made one that detailed for 4G-- engines as well.

A lot of the basic principles will apply, but I'm sure there are some major differences in the details to be aware of.
