So i went outside to start my car today....it started fine but it reved at 2k which is weird....then it sputtered out and died..... Restarted the car and it did the same thing but when i released the clutch it lurched forward and died when it was in neutral... Restarted it again and now the car will lurch forward and die in NEUTRAL unless i have the clutch in 1/2 way to the floor.... If i release the clutch all the way the car will jump forward and die, but if i push the clutch to the floor the car will rev to 2k without me even touching the gas..... THIS IS SO WEIRD.... Think my clutch could have gone out? PLEASE ADVISE

Which gears are easy and which gears can you not put it into?

Can you drive it at all in any gears?

No it doesnt drive at all, it wont even move unless it stalls out. I cannot get it into almost any gear now and it grinds really really bad i cannot even push it from the spot it is sitting, in Neutral with the ebrake off me and 2 other people pushed as hard as we could and it wouldnt budge, something is keeping resistance on the wheels.

sounds like a finger broke off the pressure plate and is wedged in between the disc and plate. How old is your clutch and what type is it and have you shimmed the pivot ball? Have you done any work to the pedal assembly? Also do you have a extended rod and have you put a stainless steal clutch line in.

Sounds like you have a speed gear welded to the shaft that or maybe a shift fork is broken? Either way even when your shifter is in neutral the transmission is still in gear. It's definately not your clutch

If you can't even thift it then i would say you definately have a trans problem, which could entail many things, but should be looked at by a fellow knowledgable DSM'er, or a trans specialist. The only reason i say a knowledgable person, is that i personally have been inside more than my share of transmissions, and it's definately not for a beginner. But any way it ###### isn't the clutch, if u can even shift gears, and it's grinding that bad.Good luck to you and don't move it if u don't have to , in order to keep from further trans and driveline damage.

Something is wrong with the Trans. Possibly one of the shift forks broke while in a gear so now you cant get out of that gear. You wont be able to shift into another gear while you still are in the gear you are stuck in. Or the gear select mechanism slipped between the shift rails while you were in a gear and now its stuck in a gear. Basicaly, you are stuck in a gear. Why? A fork broke or the selector slipped between two rails. Either way, you will have to remove the transmission, you can inspect your clutch (highly doubt there anything wrong) but it will be a good time to replace it. The transmission will have to come apart and take a look see. Now it boils down to how much you love the car. You can attempt it yourself if you have some cahones, and see whats up, if its fubard you can replace it with a used unit, or if it isn't too bad and you don't feel comfortable doing it, there are guys (Shep/TRE/Jacks) who will be happy to fix it for you. <--there's where the "how much you love the car" comes to play.

+1 on the shift fork broken... happen to me once, tried to drive it that way ended up breaking up the trannsy so bad it wasnt even worth rebuilding.... i currently have a TRE trans on my car give them a shout

Ok another piece of info you guys might want is that right before i stopped driving it and had it towed it wouldnt go into ANY gear and upon deceleration it sounded like something was grinding on the flywheel teeth..... it started loud then got quieter as i slowed....so i had it towed.

did you guys see the video? What do you think?

Sounds like its stuck in or between gears due to a broken shift fork or rail. Unless for some reason there is an issue with the cables. Take them off the trans selector arm and manually try to put it in a different gear and see what it does.

I had the same thing happen last night to me while shifting into third at WOT
The car will not even budge and had to be dragged up/off the tow truck:coy:
Looks like my tranny will be coming out and apart:ohdamn:
