Weird noise

I have a weird humming noise coming from my engine bay. This noise is new I've never heard it before, I'm thinking it might be my tensioner or my harmonic balancer. And sorry if I posted in the wrong area I never know where to post

sounds like a pulley isnt spinning properly and is causing drag on the belt.

Did you check your pulleys to make sure they are all moving?

It was almost dark out when I took the video and havent had a chance to check everything I will do that tomorrow

Take a long screwdriver to your ear and place other end on objects (like water pump) to locate noise source.

This works really good just put the handle to your ear....not the sharp end.
Sorry I couldn't resist!
It does work really well though. I work in a power plant and everywhere you go its loud so this is almost the only way to tell if a bearing or something is going out and keeping your hands away from stuff that can eat you up at the same time.

ok thanks guys I guess I could also mention that my srs light has been coming on and i was told that could mean my alt. is going bad and my battery did die today so alternator could be seizing up maybe?

Did the good ol screwdriver to ear test today at as many points as I could an it was strongest at the alternator which im guessing is seezing (<--- spelled wrong) up, I also believe its going out because of the SRS light going on and off and the radio started going in and out right when this started to happen. So now the real question is do I go buy a new alt. and put it in in the parking lot at school or haul it home to MN and find one back home. just gotta find a car trailer now instead of renting on from uhaul

Whichever you do make sure you disconnect battery negative before doing the alt. (and write down your radio stations first as they will be lost when battery is gone).

ive touched tought the alt with a wrench when I was doing my o2 sensor and what a spark scared the shat out of me

Installed saturn alt. car runs like a champ now and no noise! thanks for the help guys
