There is a weird noise coming from the front driver's side tire area. Its like a clink clink clink or cling cling cling something like metal on metal it's not in the engine. It also only happens everyonce in a while. I was told it could be either a) just brake pads getting down low and the squeakers are coming out or b) the dust shield for the brakes hitting against the rotor just curious if anyone else out there might know what noise I am experiencing. It doesn't sound like anything serious just want to get it fixed there is enough noise that comes from a dsm just want to get one of them figured out that shouldn't be there.

Could it be the cv it's not a grinding noise and it happens at low speed only i noticed. It's real quiet and I thought that a cv axle would be more of a clunk that's what I have experienced in the past. Also this sound is a high pitched sound as well.

I had a CV axle go out, but mine was really noticeable when I would turn to the left and it would be a clunking noise or some times at low speeds on a bump it would sould like shocks bouncing kind of. You should put the car up on jacks and check around the cv axle, usually it will look like something blew up (if it is real bad) or a lot of oil residue around it. You will notice it. If one is going you should go ahead and replace both and get it done because a lot of times with these type of parts if one is going the other side will shortly too. I replaced both of mine, plus my inner and outer tie rods, and the lateral arms w/BJ (amazing cheap from the dealer). The car handles so much better now and the noise is gone.

I don't know if you mentioned or not either, just put the car up on a jack stand and check that wheel. It is really hard to pin point a problem when you don't actually look at the area in question.

Does the noise only occur when your wheels are in motion? It could be a good chance that it's your wheel bearings going out. This actually just happened to me last weekend and I found out that the whole hub assembly has to be replaced when this happens. You can find them at Advance for about $100 (if they keep them in stock where you are). By the way it gets better, when I changed mine out on my passenger side I drove around and everything was great until less then 10 miles into the drive, the driver's side started the same crap. So, in the end I dropped a little over $200 in a weekend and my car is not any faster than it was!

If this is what your are experiencing, it might not be a bad idea to replace both so you don't have to worry about it again. Hopefully this helped you out!:thumb:

Like GarbageMcgee said, if there is no movement with the wheel back and forth when you shake it holding the left and right side, and the top and bottom, and there is no sign of a ripped boot on your cv axle, the only thing really left would be your wheel bearing. Or possibly your inner or outer tierods(there fairly cheap). If you have to replace the Inner tie rod this is a good step by step that wret did http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=222278&highlight=inner+tie+rod+removal

also sometimes i have heard that if you can get the dealer to actually redo the recall. Some people have been successful with that, but it is a case by case with the dealership if they will hook you up
