first off hello everyone im glad to finally have a post that is worthy of being on this forum :thumb: but anyway heres the problems i have a 1992 talon tsi AWD before i list all the problems i must say i bought it as a project car and didnt know what i was getting myself into not knowing a thing about dsm's or 4g63 engines i bought the car off a guy here in ky for $500 he took it to a local redneck mechanic that didnt know a thing about turbo charged engines so they just gave up and let it sit for about 6 years. Then i bought it when i bought it they told me that when he started and drove it it blew black smoke like a diesel. afterward me and my father got the car home it wouldn't start so we searched and searched turns out the Computer was fried so we sent it off and had it fixed for $100 once we got the computer back we tore engine apart turns out it had a blown head gasket and a cracked turbo. before we removed the turbo it was taking all the water from the radiator and everything and it was ending up in the oil pan Whats going on:confused:???? i have no clue and i am completely new to 4g63 engines is it worth fooling with???
Thanks for any reply's and help :)

the water is from the blown headgasket. Coolant slash water was mixing in the combustion chamber. Unless you are saying the HG was fixed and it there was water while removing turbo?

i replaced the head gasket and it was still mixing water with the oil. also when i drove the car or started it and let it warm up it was building up pressure in my oil pan to the point that there was so much pressure it was whistling when i would remove the dip stick it would quit untill it built up more pressure what i figured is the water was mixing in the turbo from the cracked center part of the turbo and therefore causing the build up in the oil pan... once again thank you all for the replies

No there was no water while removing the turbo and yes i fixed the head gasket because me and my dad thought that would fix the problem but it didnt

Oil Cooler is cracked if hg and turbo have been replaced.

i havnt had a chance to replace the turbo yet what kind do i need for stock or and i just put in a boost controller and go to a upgraded turbo? i found around this area the stock turbos are higher and harder to find than to just go ahead and upgrade

I highly doubt it is the turbo. CHRAs don't commonly crack internally. I honestly don't think I've ever even seen it happen. Not saying it's impossible - just highly unlikely.

To have that much coolant in the oil pan, you probably have something hooked up incorrectly.

PS - Your grammar is atrocious. Please work on that.

sorry about the grammer. I know the turbo was cracked i took it off and looked at it. The crack was small but a crack non the less. I know i hooked everything up correctly,My father is a mechanic and he hooked everything up for me. Unfortunatly he's in Kuwait so i have no help on my Tsi now. This is why i turned to a forum.

Actually, just did a repair on a 90 Laser with this exhaust problem. The oil in the CHRA was like wood glue. A common sign if oil/water being churned together.

Where exactly was the crack located? Which specific part of the turbo?

I highly doubt the churning process was talking place inside of the CHRA though. Otherwise, you'd also find alot of oil in the coolant tract, and well as alot of coolant in the oil pan. And you'd find an obvious crack in the casting inside of the CHRA when looking in throguh one of the ports.

I don't exactly know right now im at work but I will try to post a pic. Asap either tonight or tomorrow morning.

Typically its oil in the water due to the oil being at a much higher pressure than the water.

Just throwing that out there.

I've only seen oil do this one time. And that was when an V8 engine from boat sucked in a ton of water. I didn't see the oil come out. I drove the car up on ramps, started to drain coolant. Then pulled the drain plug and let her drain into the drain pan, which is enclosed. I should have probably checked that out. But I didn't know what the CHRA looked like until after all the fluids were drained.

Should have seen the turbo though, oil seals were shot and the guy kept driving it. Eventually the shaft broke in half, the guy still drove it around for several days. When I removed the turbine housing. several pieces came out, including the turbine wheel itself, still attached the the shaft.
