Wastegate sizing

I am lookin for good information on choosing what size of wastegate to get. I read somewhere that a 38mm wastegate is only goot for about 450hp.

I dont see the problem with me running a 38mm wastegate though on my new setup where I intend on running lots of boost so it wont have to work very hard . I was hopin to set my wastegate up with a 1.5 bar spring and use this for putting around town, and when I go to the track run 30+ psi.

Sorry I am unfamiliar with external gates, so someone please educate me.

Setup: 6 bolt with full rotating assembly upgraded, gt35r, supporting mods

That 38mm is good. Just upgrade the spring inside of the wastegate and you should be fine.

Guys have made 450 hp on the stock diameter MHI wastegate.

my 38 mm wastegate works w/ my setup that sees over 50 lbs/min and it has more of a problem of blowing open then controling boost (creap).
