Want to rebuild - can i just buy a BR shortblock? First time to this help!

Hey guys, wondering what exactly these shortblocks that BR sells includes. I don't know much about engines and was wanting to obviously rebuild an engine.

Would buying one of these (BR is the best right?) basically be a rebuilt engine? What would I need on top of that? Any knowledge would be greatly appreciated

I would look into AMS and also Jackson Auto blocks too.

But i have not had to build the motor in my DSM yet (knock on wood 210,000miles) so i have no experience with any of the short blocks.


Just do some homework and make sure you replace water pump and all the other maintenance items when you have the motor out of the car.

I'm using Rodland's in PA for my new shortblock. The price and quality are unmatched. My block is getting done on a RMC V-30 CNC Machining Center for blocks and a SUNNEN SV-10 Computer controlled diamond honer. Then balanced on a HINES computerized balancer.

And don't forget OEM maintenance parts. (water pump, front cover, etc...)

What is the cheapest place, or reasonable place to get a good shortblock, ethier block or block and head? I am looking to get one since i dont have the time to build one.

yeah that is the point of a short block is that the bottom end is all put together for you. so if you can not rebuild your self or need a fast turn around on the car.

Get a shortblock or a longblock
