right now i have an RFL blow off and i have the stock mitsu. maf sensor.. i believe its called a by pass system .. but its really quiet.. and i tried making it atmospheric by pullin off that tube from the blow off to the intake and pluggin that up.. rpms were all over and it barelly ran.. i was told all i need to do is get the gm maf sensor and pull that tube off and plug.. will that really allow me to make it atmospheric?

The best way to go is to get a GM MAF sensor and a MAF Translator and then you'll be able to vent to the atmosphere. It's sort of an expensive way for just a noise. Although with the maf translator you have a higher potential for air flow! And if you do go with this you'll need a datalogger too!

Yes. Search for this, it's all over.

You'd have a lot more fun with an intercooler or an exhaust for the money you'll spend on a MAFT, piping, and sensor.

Get all hard pipes and an hard intake with filter and it will be loud enough for your own enjoyment.

And yea, use the search button. Thanks.

Just search for 'vent' and you'll get all the results you could ever want.

sorry im new to the forum stuff .. my buddy got me to join .. said its a good way for info.. but i have a friend whos blow off is super loud and his is atomospheric .. i already have intercooler, hard piping.. working on exhaust.. but i will try to search first on my other questions

you could also hack your stock maf to get more power, if you decide to leave it on. If you plan on staying under 660 injectors it might not hurt to get the maf-t as it will be a way to tune the car also. But it is kind of pointless to do it just for noise. You can Ebay a used GM Maf for like 50-70 bucks, find a used MAF-T for like 100-150 but then you need UIP like the Dejon Tool setup for example and that will run you a couple hundred also...

The super loud BOV gets old real quick. I used to have a RFL on my last DSM that was vented and it got to the point where it was annoying. I had no GM MAS or translator so my car ran like crap too.

I now have a 1g BOV and it's still very noticeable, just not 110db like the old one. I say spend the money elsewhere for a more beneficial mod.

Totally agree, I just took the RFL off the 2g I bought. In theory its seems like it would be awesome, but its very annoying to be that load while crusing, makes you look foolish imo

There is very little truth to this. You never use a MAF-T as a tuning device. Yes, it may have knobs and dials that say you can accommodate bigger injectors and adjust fuel at idle and WOT, but most of the people on this forum say not to use it alone. Either get an S-AFC or DSMlink or another tuning device to properly get the car running.

But it is kind of pointless to do it just for noise.

But I do agree with this one. I know there are a lot of people who have started threads (mostly newbs) that want to know how to vent to the atmosphere because the like the sound. :beatentodeath: Please don't do this if you just want the sound as it'll be a waste of money. You should do this if you plan on pushing more hp than the stock MAF can handle (which I think is about 400 or 450).

With that being said, please get to know the search button at the top. There are about 986,753,723,.3 threads on this already. And if you still want to do this no matter what, here's a tech article - http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=213196. All you would need is the GM MAF and the MAF-T (translator box). Since you already have the bov and hard uicp, you can just hack off a portion of the uicp and drop in the GM MAF between some silicone reducers.
