any help apprciated thx

There are so many topics on this already. Everything will work, it's the same engine. Just search for what you're looking for and you'll even get instructions on how to do everything........

well i donno shit about theses cars yet but im asking bcus someone is selling a low km's 2g turbo motor for 350$ thought it was a good deal and cheaper than rebuilding my engine, how much would it cost to rebuild my engine and anyone know a good place in the gta to get er done.

i would .... put a 1g 7 bolt back in. It's the 2g 7 bolts motors that are known to be weaker. The 1g 6 bolt and 1g 7 bolts are both known to be the stronger option.

The 1g 7 bolt motors have the same rods weaker as 2g 7bolts. Just the small end is cut for the 2g piston for the 2g 7bolt. The 1g 7bolt has the same weaker headbolts, as well. These are the primary differences between a 6bolt and 7bolt WRT to durability.

No they will not. 1g motor mounts are on the block, 2g's are on the tranny. The 2g 7 bolt doesn not have the holes in the block to accept 1g motor mount brackets. It will not work at all. Plus a 6 bolt will swap into a 7 bolt 1g strauight up with no modifications, it would be almost senseless to not just throw a 6 bolt in.

dont have the tools to do a compression test but my engine is idleing very rough bouncing between 400 rpm and 1700 rpm and stalling out sometimes

so a 2g motor wont mount up to my car? their is no mount kit? i could fab up my own mounting brackets

as I said go to Club DSM Canada sign up there. Its a Canadian forum with A LOT of helpful people in your area that would be willing to lend a hand with your car and tell you what you should do.

A worn out motor will idle just fine. Sounds like you idle speed control or FIAV is broken. Hardly merits a new engine WTF . If you're willing to swap engines, you should get a compression tester ($30). How are you going to keep tabs on your new engine break-in?

The metal the mitsubishi blocks are made of are not like the old 60s trash that would wear to an oval by 180K. There is a much higher nickel content and the pistons are very close to upright so there is very little wear on the walls. L24-28 datsun motors (1970s) are like this as some of the first cars built for americans to have more long lasting blocks. Everyone got better by the 80s. Except for some US-based V8s; not surprising. Thus, low compression or bearing noise now merits a new engine, not high mileage.

You should do a compression test and fix the idle issue. It's likely a difference of hundreds of dollars and days of work. It's the right way to do it. It's a risk that your other engine maynot be rebuilt properly, or have lower compression; or if you rebuild this one it may not to together properly because of human error. You're assumption may be wrong. No one goes under for a heart transplant simply because they are 60 years old and their cholesterol is too high. Though old age and high cholesterol can cause heart problems, what doctor wouldn't find out of the heart is fine? It can be a greatly unnecessary health risk to the patient.

Sounds like you're going to pay someone to do this work. Since you don't have the compression tester and it takes more expensive tool like an engine hoist, torque wrench, etc. to swap an engine. So don't let a mechanic tell you otherwise about a 280K block. And don't let one do a compression check for you. Mechanics usually don't display a Doctor's code of ethics.

If it is worn out, a stock 6-bolt is good for 500whp and bolts right in with the 6bolt flywheel.

This would require you to fab up a custom cross-member to allow the use of the 2G front and rear roll stops.

And chances are that is you don't have a compression tester, you probably don't have a notcher, bender, welder, or even the materials used to build a jig.

Conquer the mole hill before the mountain. Take dsm-onster's advice.

No, if there was such a kit, not one person would buy it. Spending more money and time for a far less superior setup is not a good marketing scheme for such a product..LOL. Just get a stock 6 bolt short block and a 6 bolt flywheel and call it a day. :thumb:

i aint payin none im going to learn myself (as i am learning right now) i know how to do compression test and plan on learning much more and buying the tools i just finished high school and just building up an income but ill do the test and ive read around on things to check went the car has a rough idle so ill do that instead of taking a risk with human error or lower compression scores. thanks
