Put a Cummins Diesel Turbo on my 1G!!

I just had a local performance shop slap a Holset turbo off a Ram 3500 Diesel truck today...Let me just say HOLY SHIT!! I thought my stock turbo boosted well... Im in the process of ordering a fmic to fead the beast. They also threw on a porsche bov. Sounds awesome! I should have some pics soon. I will say this, im not afraid of anyone in my town now. Talon Tsi AWD with a Holset.... Damn, this could be the car of my dreams...

I remember that thread. This knob fits right in with him. I dont get WTF stupid ass's think putting different make parts (I.E. Porche BOV, Cummings Turbo, Camero tranny's) on a DSM makes it MaAd TyTe and hella fast. Things are made for certain vehicles, for certain purposes. Theres a fine line of what will actually work on your car and what wont. Theres also a fine line of common sense, and absolute stupid azz f*ckizm.
 
HMM needs its own oil pan huh?? I'm having trouble figuring out where it would put the 5 quarts of oil once sucked out of the engine.... the center section just doesn't look that big..

I guess another thing is that it needed its own oil pump since its on a seperate circuit...

Which way does the compressor housing outlet point - up, down??

I find it odd that for 300$$ you got a 2000$++ turbo, 4" custom dp, installed, oil pan, piping to mate up to the stock ic, some kinda intake pipe as the stock 1.75" or whatever won't fit on that opening. Damn - think that shop would rebuilt my engine for me??

Maybe they would stroke it out to 5L while they're at it:thumb:

ummmmm, this makes it even worse dude!!!!! the 98.5+ cummins turbo's were SMALLER for SMOKE reasons!!! i know because i had to put a 97 turbo on my fathers 99 and it was a nice upgrade with about 20hp more........ can you also run 40psi!?! he is :D

I like the idea how he he puts a turbo bigger than 60 trim on a stock motor with no tunning and says- "ahhh it spools just like the 14b"

I'm playin it save and only runnin 30 psi on my 450's, i could push it push it up to 35-36 but i don't wanna hit fuel cut.
 
I got some info on the Supra conversion. The guy did it just to do it. It would have been a better move to upgrade the CT-26, and call it a day(came from a guy who did the cummins holsten swap on a Supra). Dont know if it's the same guy pic'd, but he ran with a LOT more lag, and it cost him nearly 4G's.

As far as VATN and VNT, the technology is used in a lot of different applications, from Dodge Daytonas, to Cummins Diesels, and I think the new duramax uses them as well. But I can say that I have dealt with the older and newer dodges and the turbos they use. The older ones are f"in HUGE!! The last time I saw one was on an early 90's in a boe yard that I yanked the IC off of( was using it for custom turbo dune buggy!! WEEEE!! (350 chev, TPI, and twin turbo...hehehehe...Home made can be fun). Even the newer rams witht he next gen cummins has a large turbo. I'm sure a large 6cyl or an 8cyl could push it but noway a 2.0 could. Hell, we tried a CT-26 Toyota on a Dodge 2.5 ltr and it lagged to be all hell... Sorry guy, didnt mean to shoot you down but come on.
 
LOL, 4" downpipe. What a putz...anyways, he meant to say it spooled like a 14b with no exhaust flow...
 
Good god, I thought this was dead. But at least its not someone waying yeah I did this mess.. .
