I have a friends dad that owns a tractor repair shop and was looking around the other day and saw that he had about 10 amazing looking turbos sitting around collecting dust, around the size of a 50 or 60 trim garrett, im going to look up the serial numbers soon. My questions are being that they were pulled of tractors they dont have as many rpm's going through them than an eclipse running 6 or 7 thousand. I also noticed they were all just oil cooled, not water and oil, is there any way to make that work out? I also know there would be a lot of custom fab welding but that can be done. Any input would be great, i'd like to go with something crazy with my car.

Might be possible... honestly most diesel guys don't hang on to the stock turbo. I gave my stock HX35 to a friend who has a 93 Cummins 6BT in a Chevy crew cab truck.

No, not the same. The HX35 is an upgrade to the WH1C. That one came on 89-93 Cummins
HX35 94-02... though HY35 was used on auto trans trucks for 00-02 (I think those are the right years)

I'm sure they were used on tractors, backhoes, water pumps, gen sets, etc... pretty much anything that uses a Cummins 6BT or Cummins ISB

There is no difference between the wh1c and the 1995-1998 hx35. Same blade shape on both wheel, same wheel specs, same blade count, same housing specs for both sides. The wh1c comes with compressor cover that attaches to the backplate via vband and the chra attaches to the turbine housing with 4 bolts instead of 6.

You know what would be sweet.....a thread discussing which turbos people use from tractors, how they made it wrong and where a good place to find them is.

So far I just have that website that someone referenced on here but I am not sure how to use the turbo w/o a T3/T4 flange

well thats why he started this, were wonderin if anyone has use the same type of turbos, and what they did to make them work, or why they didn't work..

You mean a thread discussing how cheap DSMers can be? ROFL

MOST of the time if someone hands you a tractor turbo for free, it's not worth using. By the time you get it rebuilt because it was pulled from a tractor and sat on a shelf for 15 years, then find a turbine housing worthy of DSM use (most are far too big), and modify your setup to make such a turbo work, you could've bought something that's proven and worthy for use on your car.

Occasionally you'll luck out and find a 60-trim Garrett that's already in a 4-bolt T3 turbine housing, but most of the time it's some 30-year-old RaJay turbo that's rusted solid, won't turn, and belongs in a scrap pile.

nah, none of these are that old.. and about the price thing, i just checked some prices on a couple of the ones we have and there about 6k new.. so really not cheaper, i mean yea if you find someone who just has one laying around that they took out of a tractor why not try to see if you can get it cheap and make it work right?

and 6k isnt $h!t compared to what some people that we tractor pull with tractors (talkin like 10K and up..) but then again i doubt there are many dsm's out there that could light that turbo haha

A Wiseman huh, when did this happen :thumb:

Me cheap? never. haha thats a lie. I think the gsx is craving that turbo to be slapped on it very soon, just hours of work away. I got some pics of a few of the turbos and the serials off of one, i'll post them soon
