I just bought and installed a Walbro 190 from someone local. After I installed it, I can hear the fuel pump running constantly. It's a pulsating sound like a distant siren. I've had walbro pumps before and I've never heard one run like this... constantly. I didn't do anything special when wiring it up, but I'm obviously not the original owner of the car. I used the ground wire that was connected to the housing, and there was a blue wire for power. Should I have done something differently.

Another oddity is that my fan in for the AC/heat doesn't work after the install. Are these two systems connected?

Also, I don't think I put the carriage back in correctly because the float doesn't seem to be floating. Is there a trick to getting it back into the tank correctly? Which direction does the float need to go? Which direction on the car should it face?

Thanks!

As far as the walbro goes mine makes the same sound. If you look in Dsm link the sound matches the change in fuel delivery of the o2 sensor changing to try and keep the air fuel ratio steady. It should get louder then quieter over and over while idling because the car is switching from rich to lean and then lean to rich over and over if you idle is working correctly.

Sounds good to me.

Thanks guys. What about the float? I pulled it again to see what's going on and I can seem to get it to work.

did you guys get the foam sock with your wallbro? did you get an install kit or just a bare pump? if you hav or can get the foam sock for the pump USE IT. it makes the walbro quieter then a stock pump.
(my talon street build thread has a pic of a wallbro 190 with the foam sock)

I would install a fuel pump rewire kit if you don't have it already. I have the sock on mine and it's still loud as Sh*T. After I did the fuel pump rewire, it's still load but at least it's solid loud. I do have a 255 though, not sure if that makes any difference.

I finally got the float issue figured out. It takes a bit more work than any other I have done... It seems like it was getting hung up on the filter. Pushing it to the side as the carriage went in did the trick.
